Something’s not right

It's not bloody fair!

It's not bloody fair!

I'm sitting here crying after receiving a phone call from my Superannuation Company. I put in a claim last year on my insurance. This was after my lawyers recieved a letter from them, saying I had cover.
Oops they made a mistake. The letter was wrong. No they will not honour the letter they wrote.
My claim is denied!!!
We are talking about a payment of between $8,000 & $10,000 only.
So since my Workplace incident back in 2014 - my ex employer - is not held responsible. Worksafe still won't release any report on my incident or the other 2 incidents that occurred in that workplace.
On the 25th of this month - I get my last Workcover pay - which has really equated to 60% of my part time income prior to injury.
I can't sue my employer. The laws are different for Mental Health injuries, compaired to Physical Injuries. And because I have gotten better - my percentage of incapacity has reduced & now falls below the threshold. That threshold is higher for Mental Injury compaired to a Physical Injury.
So I have lost over $30,000 of income since this workplace injury. I owe thousands in back rates to the local Council. I'm behind in all my bills. I don't have a job. I'm a single parent of a teenage boy who needs clothes and shoes. God, I need clothes. Mine are falling apart.
I start getting 'better' & think " I can do this. I can create a good new life". & then bang!!!! They kick me down again.
It feels like everh time I try and get back up - they just keep kicking and kicking and kicking.
I'm tired of being constantly kicked. I'm tired of having to constantly struggle - medically, emotionally, financially. I'm so bloody tired of having to do it all on my own.
Sometimes suicide looks so tempting. To just have it all stop. To end the pain and the struggle. To hurt no more.
I'm so bloody tired of fighting. One morw kickand I ddon't think I could get up again.
It's just not bloody fair.

Re: It's not bloody fair!

@utopia .... I have a question ....

If you had been accosted by this dangerous individual in a shopping centre, or a school car park, or a public library, or anywhere else where you felt cornered and abused to the point of suffering PTSD .... what would the recourse be ??

I am just wondering whether you can go around Workcover and claim as a regular citizen. Can you seek free legal counsel about it somewhere ?

Next suggestion.... you know you are entitled to support and compensation .... I encourage you to make use of every available charitable support system .... through community centres, churches, oupkitchens, wherever ... with no apology ... to help you make ends meet.

This is a form of abuse, and you are owed ..... accept from Peter where Paul is refusing to pay up ....!!

❤️💕 Hugs n hugs .....

(Crowd-funding ?? - the insurance company letter not being honoured has left you in unanticipated crippling debt through your belief that it was legit .... I would like to see us find a way to enable community outrage and compassion get involved in finding a solution)

Re: It's not bloody fair!

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope. Insurance companies aren't known for being fair or moral.
Enjoy your painting weekend.

Thank you @Zoe7. & thanks for the beautiful rose. I'm calming down. Or numbing down. Not sure which one.
Hope you are going okay tonight.

Re: It's not bloody fair!

We are allover on scared's thread helping her to build up her garden. She wasn't doing well either so we have found heaps of things for her to put into it and she is going to draw it tomorrow. I really think a cockatoo/galah would be perfect in her garden - come over and join us if you feel up to it. If not I can chat here with you too my friend. I really hate what has happened to you - it is so unfair and so wrong - and my heart does break for you.

I love you my friend and really wish this hadn't happened to you @utopia xxx

Re: It's not bloody fair!

@Zoe7. The reality is - none of us deserve our MI's. None of us deserved the trauma. None of us deserve the stigma, the financial, professional etc hardships. It's just the way it is at the moment.
Thanks I might just stay off the other thread tonight. Enjoy your night.

Re: It's not bloody fair!

@utopia I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is not fair and it is not right! Society tries to prattle on about how we are breaking down the stigma around MI, but we aren't. There is still a massive gap between how physical health conditions and mental health conditions are construed...which makes no sense to me at all given that MI is just an illness that happens to occur in the brain - which is a physical part of the body as much as any other!!! I wish I could offer some words of comfort, but I know there is really nothing to say except that it totally sucks.
