Welcome and getting started

Social anxiety and panic attacks

Social anxiety and panic attacks

Hi everyone,

I.am so grateful.to have found this group/forum, I am.struggling with feeling very alone and currently in a very dark place mentally.

I have been out of work the last few months so unfortunately this has given me more time to overthink, analyse, magnify and read into everything more

often than usual.

I have convinced myself that I am unwanted, not loved, hated, I feel like everyone is talking about me behind my back, I feel paranoid, highly.

misunderstood, judged, unwelcome and

my depression is at an all time high.

I just want to.share this with like minded people and not feel so incredibly low and alone all of the time.I have so much trouble sleeping, concentrating, focusing, being present, I am overly.emotional and sensitive all the time and I am constantly thinking about who I can blame for me being this way, I look back on my childhood and I have many people i could blame, even people I love and care about deeply. I am married , I have been with my husband almost 20 years and he is like a human calming force for me, he may not understand me completely but he grounds me, calms me and makes me feel loved, wanted, accepted, valuable, heard and seen.

Unfortunately where i live iis isolated, very far from family and friends, therefore I lost contact with close friends and only have contact through social media and phone calls. I honestly feel like I dont know who I am anymore, I look into the mirror and see a very sad, lonely misunderstood stranger. I do have a psychologist for therapy but unfortunately it does not feel like its helping and I did give it a chance for over two years, I cannot afford anyone else so that sadly is not an option at this point.

I would love to connect with others and even try helping others too.

A little background on me is that I am highly spiritual (not religious) so I have strong faith and belief in life after death, reincarnation, angels, ghosts, karma interacting with souls that are departed etc I respect all religions and would never force my belief system onto anyone.

I am an early childhood educator. I find that children, these little humans are rhe most authentic souls walking this Earth and they are filled with integrity, I know they do lie but never with any malicious intent. I am currently not working, I miss ths children with all my heart. Unfortunately since Covid its never been the same, im sure many here can relateI

I love music amd feel.it on a cellular level, right through to my core, it is like therapy for me. I am a huge movie buff, I especially love true crime shows and trying to solve the problems and guess who done it. I am also into psychological thrillers.

I have a close knit fanily and in-laws.

I am.highly intuitive, most people think im the real deal psychic, mostly because i have predicted countless future events and been very accurate in reading a person, I was told I should do psychic readings as a job but I dont want to.take money from people amd I would be too scared to make a mistake and ruin lives, I would prefer to keep it as a gift, although it can feel like a curse knowing horrible things about people's loved ones and not being able to give this information to people, my gut always tells me when I should intervene and when I shouldn't, I believe in fate very much and some things ate meant to be, even the most cruel.and unjust.

I love sleeping and I love eating 😋. I am very good at diffusing conflict. I have been called a vault for peoples secrets, anything anyone has confided in me will be taken to my grave.

I am extremely protective, loyal, gentle soul, compassionate, an empath and I can read people and sense who they truly are, I never call someone out in front of other's but I do warn anyone I care about to be careful of this individual.

The beach is my solace, I feel that I thrive mostly around any body of water, I find the ocean to be magical, there is no other place I would prefer to live out the rest of my days. I have chronic pain but I try not to let it rule my life, not easy sadly.

Ok enough avout me, if anyone has any questions I am an open book. I look forward to.forming connections, I am highly introverted, guarded, cautious, paranoid, protective, extremely private and the only reason I mention this is because I want be answering any personal questions that can disclose any of my private information. It is a pleasure joining this group amd I.truly look forward to having discussions with you all. Thank you for reading, please take care and be safe always. 🙏

Re: Social anxiety and panic attacks

Welcome @Intrinsic you have come to the right place. The members that I have met on here are non-judgemental, very caring and supportive.

I can tell that you are really struggling right now, but by connecting with the beautiful members on here, hopefully you will feel supported very soon.

I connected with several parts in your post as we have similar interests.

I am a 55F with Major Depressive Disorder, Complex PTSD & Aniexty with the occasional panic attacks thrown in for good measure.

I have been in a similar dark place on & off over the last 23 years. But since 2018 it has been particularly hard for me and I was at the lowest of lows, but the last 5 months my mood has really picked up and my negative self talk has reduced greatly. I have been working with a social worker for the past 2 years and she has really helped me overcome a few big obstacles in my life, that used to just overwhelm me, and I would end up a blubbering mess with no progress being made. And her service was free.

There are a few members that post life quotes, myself included which might give you another perspective on how to think about things. @MissGremlin @Bunniekins

Depression is a horrible dark place to be in, but I can tell you from experience, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and things can get better for you. If you are willing to educate yourself and do lots of self care.

I too am spiritual (not religious) so I believe in life after death, reincarnation, angels, ghosts etc I have been told by other psychics that I have the gift, and I am very interested in developing it, but because of my mental health I have put that project to the side.

When my C-PTSD kicks in at night time, I watch ghost shows to keep my mind interested, so I don't keep thinking about my trauma from the past, until I finally fall asleep.

I also love and believe it is great therapy. We have a discussion group regarding music. If your interested, click on this link and have a look around. A song that describes your current emotional state

I love true crime shows and psychological thrillers, where I too like to try and solve it.

I really wish you all the best for trying to have a child. I personally think it is the best thing I have ever done. When I got married we didn't want children. We had three dogs and a cat and we were happy with that. But later on in the marriage I had a slip up with my contraception and became pregnant. Best slip up ever. I am mot saying it will always be easy, as there will be times that really try you, but overall I think it is really worth it.

And by doing so, has saved my life on a few occasions, as I never wanted my daughter to go through what I went through when my partner died. And that is what keeps me grounded these days.

I will tag in a few people to get some conversation and support happening for you.

Re: Social anxiety and panic attacks

@MissGremlin I hope everything goes well with your appointment today and the doctor can offer you something to help with your current situation.

When I told my doctor about facing possible homelessness, she said that she would write a support letter for me to use with some of the services.

But you probably already gone down that path as well as I know you have tried everything.

I will be thinking of you 🤗

@DownMoreThanUp that's ok. I have removed your tag from that list. Sometimes I am not up to support people either. You definitely do need to be in the right frame of mind.

I had never heard that song before, but I liked it. Even though it is a sad song at the same time. Thank you for sharing.

I am so sorry you are feeling this way at the moment. Sending a caring hug your way.

@Mustang67 i really hope he can do something.

My doctor already did a support letter for me (though there was drama with that yesterday with housing SA) but it's been lodged now.

Thankyou sweet ❤️.

Re: Social anxiety and panic attacks

Hi @Intrinsic, and welcome to the Sane forums. It is truly a privilege to have you on board and to read about your story and listen to your troubles.

I'm deeply sorry you are feeling so low at this time, I acknowledge this is an incredibly hard feeling and I too find myself in this pit as well. Like you, I am an early childhood educator and have been for nearly 7 years, but it sounds like you are a truly knowledgeable educator with much to share on this beautiful, life shaping field. I too share your perspective it is not quite the same as it was.. with newer generations showcasing new behaviours for us to guide and support. However, I do agree learning is a lifelong process and we can always build on our experience more and more.

I was forced to take some time away when I had a major foot injury and tore the ligament clean and had to learn how to walk again, 4 months away really had me lose momentum, and I am still rebuilding myself back to an educator wirh confidence and poise. It will take a lot of therapy and hard-work to get me back to where I was, or as close as I can be. I am a new "me" now.

I also share your interest in true crime and physiological thrillers. It is indeed always enthralling putting on the detective hat and trying to figure out who has done it before the plot unravels...

Moving to the countryside must have been a big change, but I am glad you find peace and comfort in it's tranquillity...

Panic attacks can be so frightening, and I too totally get how debilitating these can be, I can identify them now and apply techniques but yeash they can creep up on you..

I look forward to hearing more about you and your journey... take care 🌻
