Re: Saturday Soiree -- 10th January 2026

Hi @RoutineNicotine,

I hear you, sometimes it feels really difficult to access coping strategies that might be more sustainable long-term.

It sounds like things are feeling intense for you at the moment, and that you are sitting with a lot of distress.

I'm wondering, other than having a drink, is there another strategy that you could try that might help to ease some of your distress? It doesn't need to be something big, sometimes the little things really help. Even just getting outside for some fresh air can make a difference.

Going out triggers me. but, I don't mind standing out the front smoking ciggies. Might have a word with that nurse person tomorrow since I am thinking things that probably won't fly here since they are so down low and it's probably bordering on a self invented crisis.

@RoutineNicotine

I'm glad to hear you have some support in place and that you are being honest with yourself about where you are at. It's not easy reaching out and asking for help, it takes a lot of courage.

You are most likely already aware of these crisis services, but just as a reminder I'll post them here for you in case you need any support tonight:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

@Forest_Fairy

I should be safe since I have had some beer and I promise myself not to do anything under the influence but, tomorrow once the beers are all gone and it's a new day. I might mention it to the clinical nurse that's supposed to be looking after me and this might lead to a grippy sock vacation as the Americans call it despite the fact I'll be doing it barefoot because they are stingy with the grippy socks. I don't want to but, with the ideation and the ASIO cars it's probably time for a stint.

I'm glad to hear that @RoutineNicotine

That sounds like a good idea. Not an easy thing to do but we can't get the help we need if we aren't honest with ourself and others.

Hopefully, you can bring a pair of socks from home, a comfortable or colourful pair perhaps?

No sorry's needed at all @Cuddlebear 🫶

Things sound incredibly challenging for you right now, you're allowed to talk about it and ask for support.

What have you been up to today? 🥰

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 10th January 2026

Hello @RoutineNicotine,

I know you have received some wonderful support from @Forest_Fairy, but I would like to check-in and see how you're doing today?

It sounds like beer has been a protective factor for you in many ways. I can hear these thoughts and plans have felt very prominent as of late.

Have you been able to contact Lifeline or Suicide Callback Service to work on a safety plan?

Oh, and have you done anything nice for yourself over the past couple of days? 💖

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 10th January 2026

I have contacted thankfully my local community mental health support person and they acknowledged some of the struggles of having a psychotic illness and also being involuntarily admitted to such places. I managed to negotiate out of an involuntary admission due to SI but, [Limited Detailded Discriptions - edited by moderator]

There will be a discussion next week about all this and it's impact on medications I take. Even though based on knee jerk reactions I should have been admitted to the psych ward as an involuntary patient, they reserved judgement on that and they are sort of apprehensive due to the impact an admission would have based on my global functioning.

I am sort of thankful for this since I can discuss the darker side of SI with a minimal risk of getting sectioned under the mental health act as a result. And if you are trying to build a report with someone, this is important to know if that person trusts you or not.
