would sane consider these changes to the forums

would sane consider these changes to the forums

hi everyone i was wondering what people thought about possible changes to bring the forums.

1. having the ability to block someone. i think this would be beneficial in so many ways. it is not necessarily a negative thing it can stop arguments from escalating and feelings from being hurt.

2. having the ability to contact other members outside the forum. we are all adults here and i believe should have the ability to form friendships if wanted outside the forum.

looking forward to hearing from other members.

@DogMan79 @Flutterbug9 @Bow @AlwaysMyself

The triage system is a bit like a hospital ed - it is supposed to identify the most need using a keyword or phrase system. This does not work. Like so many of you, I have seen so many posts go unnoticed or not replied to when the poster needs immediate support and other members given ongoing support or conversations continued over many posts with general chit chat.

The 'report post' function also does not work. I am not exaggerating that I have brought this issue up more than half a dozen times. It should be a priority to monitor - whether it be that a member needs immediate support or a post needs removing/editing. The member using this function should also be notified of the action(s) taken (of course without a detailed explanation in respect of the member involved).

As for consistency ....absolutely it should be the same for everyone, not a case by case situation. A word, words, phrase or post should be deemed the same no matter who is posting it. There should be no difference in 'interpretation' of the community guidelines - they should be implemented the same for everyone and that needs to be a focus of any training.

@Flutterbug9 @AlwaysMyself I have also asked if we could have mods/PSWs listed to know who is on. The only disadvantage I can see with this is an over reliance on tagging those on rather than the peer to peer support the forums is set up for. The primary support should be other members but if the 'report post' function is not monitored then we need a back up to alert workers to posts/members that need support/editing.

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

Thanks @Zoe7 for that information. Really appreciate your time plus knowing I’ve been heard.

situation that happened that bought the thought of knowing PSW/Mods.

a mod posted a ‘reply’ following a message I had typed as update on my circumstances during the previous couple of mths. A message that was a general update for Tyme and only Tyme was tagged. Post by mod contained name of a specific type of infusion, type of infusion that is totally different than infusion I have had.

i tagged that specific Mod in my post requesting for edit to be made. From timeline between date of my post to date that mod supported my post, it appears mod was not on deck at time of my post and wasn’t for days.

if was able to know who is on deck I would have

- waited until day Tyme was on deck prior to have typing my post

- tagged whichever mods were on deck requesting for edit to be done

(some medical treatments I have done, the exact details eg name are not able to be recorded on the forums due to Community Guidelines)

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

I did see that post @Flutterbug9 and understand your frustration. It is difficult when another mod/PSW answers a post tagged to someone else but there also needs to be a quicker follow up when you have requested an edit by that particular mod/PSW.

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

This forum and others like it are included in my Treatment Contract Agreement with my psychologist. As agreed contacts between sessions. Since my therapist doesn't accept communication between sessions

So what @Zoe7 and @Flutterbug9 say about triage here is important

What exists now is better for my circumstances than phone lines who only Actively Listen (Ie repeat back what you said). But it could improve, as others noted

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

Perfect example of triage system not working @Zoe7 @DogMan79 @RachSANECEO

approx 9hrs after tagging mods as needed TW box inserted and nothing has been done.

has reinforced the feeling of no support from mods/PSWs at times (know somethings are out of their control. Doesn’t change the feeling though)

have sent email in hope this gets actioned sooner rather than later

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

Thing id like to see is PSWs being able to be on the forums like they used to be last year and previously.

Being in midst of conversation with PSW and having to wait days and days until they are rostered on isn’t good enough. It’s not providing the ongoing consistent support we need.

due to whatever is happening with these new changes, it feels like PSWs are no longer being able to be there to provide support, guidance to so many of us on the forums. not fault of PSWs, feels like being deserted by them though

more and more I’m seeing PSWs not being able to provide guidance, support and help to new people/casual contributors as appears there are no PSWs rostered on

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

Had another thought for a low-importance-but-useful feature for improving the forum from my own perspective...

The front homepage has the "Recent Discussions" listing. I like having this, but I wish I could personalise it to my own settings (linked to my account) - e.g. select which Spaces I want to see posts from (or not see posts from), and whether I want to see the "Most recent thread" or "Most recent posts" (and it remember this setting).

Some days there are topics that come up in there from a specific Space that for me can trigger some feelings that aren't helpful - although other days I am find to read/see them also. Other Spaces aren't listed in that summary (understandably) but they are things I would want to see and wouldn't be a negative trigger to me even if I'm not doing well. It would be really neat if we could have a proper search/filter on it and save a "default" against our logins. Not sure how much Personalisation this software platform has in-built though, so I totally understand this would not be an option if it would require bespoke development.

another suggestion: being able to insert the hidden boxes without needing a mod to do it for you

Re: would sane consider these changes to the forums

Thank you everyone for all the feedback that is coming through. It's really important to us. We can collate the feedback and share with the wider organisation about the forum you'd like to ideally see and be part of.

Whilst tech has it's limitations, your feedback will inform how we 'build' something that works for us.

Thank you for your patience.
