Cuddlebears Space

Cuddlebears Space

Hello everyone I’ve made a space here.

I’ve been having a really rough time. I have experienced a lot of trauma and abuse since childhood. I’ve been on forums for a while now and thought to start a thread so that my journey and anyone that cares to see how I’m going and offer support or advice can find me here.

I have complex ptsd, anxiety and severe depression with anhedonia. I’m currently tapering antidepressant and it’s been brutal.

I am really struggling everyday and can’t find ways to feel better. I’ve tried so many things.

I am having daily panic attacks, my body shutdown and I am so lonely with very little support. There’s a real heavy darkness around me I feel so unloved and worthless. I can’t do basic things like shower, eat, clean and going out is very very hard. I have no purpose or meaning though I try to create it but nothing works.

More recently I’ve experienced passive SI and sometimes more active. The tapering I believe has caused these symptoms. I’m safe.

Im finding it hard to write this all up. I hope it gives you some insight. @MissGremlin @AlwaysMyself@Chasingsunsets

Re: Cuddlebears Space

Thank you @Cuddlebear for tagging me. I know I've already said all this before, but now it has an easy place for you to scroll back to (Page 2!) to re-read it anytime you would benefit from hearing it - even when I'm not online.

  1. You are a lovely, caring, empathetic person. I really like who you are. That's probably why your the first person i really connected with in a sustained way here. I am so so so grateful for you - never believe it if your brain tells you otherwise.
Remember that I do not tell lies (unintentional mistakes, maybe, but not lies - even to save someone's feelings; I just have to work around how to answer a question lol. It's a self-policy I have) - so that means when I state something like this, you can absolutely take it as truth and not a "white lie".
  2. Given all your life-challenges (past and present), I think you are so strong -- even though it feels so hard. Even more so because it feels so hard, and you are still so caring and supportive of people and you look after your pets with such love, and you still hang on despite those difficult thoughts and the panic attacks.

  3. When I see Totoro, teddy bears (including tiny teddies on the weekend!), or think of Greek salad I think of you and that brings me a warmth and smile to remember you my friend.
  4. There will be ups and downs; easier days and harder days. And unfortunately, it is easier for our brains to recall/remember the harder days and forget the easier days (darn it!). So when you brain tells you every day is just as bad, remember that there are some days that are a little easier. And once the medication transitioning is completed (at your pace) you will also be feeling a bit better too.
  5. I am so proud of you for the things I have seen in the past 6 months of knowing you - especially your courage in advocating for the support you need & your rights with the landlord and your GP. I know many people without anxiety who don't have the courage to do this. It might have been difficult but you did it and now you have a place to live with hot water and are able to go slower in your tapering process -- because you stood up for yourself, because you are courageous and also sought support from others when you needed it.
  6. How people may have treated you in the past does not always reflect your value or worth. You are worthy and valuable because of who you are; any "benefits" or "help" you bring to people is just a bonus - your value is not dependent upon it.
  7. I hope you can always bring to mind how much your daughter loves you, and how that feels for you to know.
  8. I hope you can picture a warm, safe hug, and know that I care about you genuinely. Even though I only know you here, you mean just as much to me as my other friends. You are much more supportive (and I trust you much more with what I disclose) than most of my friends that I see face-to-face.
  9. I hope this year you can continue to be supported by us here, by your support workers, and hopefully also by some counsellor/psychology that can help with treating/managing the cptsd, anxiety and depression. I know access to support and community/connection is difficult for you to get; I hope people around you this year help advocate and support you to find increasingly more support resources to work towards getting the amount of support you need both physically and emotionally/mentally.

Re: Cuddlebears Space

Hi @Cuddlebear I think it’s great that you have started your own thread so people can converse with you more easily.
You are such a lovely person to chat with.

You are very supportive of other forumites, so it’s great you now have a space for others to support you.

As you know, I am in a place that only has solar power (without storage) so very basic.

I only logged on quickly but saw your post and wanted to respond.

I'm sorry to see that you're unwell @Cuddlebear

I am feeling a bit...foggy and tired this afternoon. Hopefully something to eat will help.

Thanks for tagging me here @Cuddlebear

That is so much to be going through. Every moment sounds like it’s hard.

I hope writing it and letting us know about you was a little cathartic for you. It is hard to share all that is happening at the present moment.

I really hear you on the basic needs. If it wasn’t for work I would never leave the house, barely eat and never shower. It just seems to overwhelming. I only do those things when I’m working on my days off I don’t do them. You are not alone.

I have found you to be really loving and caring with a really kind heart. I know we haven’t known each other long but that’s how you come across to me.

Im here if you want to get anything of your chest.

Re: Cuddlebears Space

Thinking of you @Cuddlebear - no pressure to reply. Just wanting YOU to know you are thought of and cared about. A friend will pick me up to take me to their daily coffee meet (yay they're doing it indoors in aircon!) shortly. So far my headache is only mild, and because I have been sitting still on the couch (laptop desk for laptop) I have not felt dizzy or nauseaus at all yet. 😊. AND my emotional regulation is in check today too! (so far lol)

I hear you have had an even worse few days than usual. Wishing I could be there by your side to sit with you even when you can't get onto the computer/phone to read the messages of support. Sending you cuddles via Wilbur, the cats & the bird.

Oh, now there is an idea to make me smile. I wish I could train your parrot to say "AlwaysMyself cares." or the names of other forumites here who also care 😍😊. Then we could remind you even when you aren't up to being on the forum! 😋

I hope you remember we care every time you see the Totoro pic too. 😊. I know its not the same as having someone physically with you.

Hope you are able to get enough good quality sleep. I know it can be a thousand times hard when lacking sleep too.

Re: Cuddlebears Space

@Cuddlebear Hey, you're not alone. I struggle with depression and anxiety and feel so alone. No one to talk to who understands and I don't like to share my feelings with loved ones because they don't get it and I don't want to burden them. It's isolating. I feel a sense of guilt that I would rather share with strangers online than people who love and care about me. Anyway, being here helps to feel less alone. It's good to be part of a community and knowing others have similar experiences and helps when needing advice.
