My employers know about my conditions and do check on me occasionally and never question if I have a day off. So they are pretty good. I had a meltdown a couple of weeks ago and they were really supportive then but mostly I cope just fine. It’s a routine that I stick too and it gets me out of the house and around people. I’m not around peoples lot as I’m in the truck by myself but I get just over an hour of social contact and that’s enough, sometimes it’s too much. @Cuddlebear
Mine was never that bad. But I really feel for you as it must have been so hard to go through and I will never understand what that’s like.
I live rural so I guess I was lucky with comm health. I wasn’t well but they did everything they could for me, well I thought at the time. All my appointments now are through Telehealth as living in a small country town makes things really difficult. I met my psych in hospital and see agreed to take me on. We got a long really well and she was supportive in there and I haven’t looked back.
I always worked low paying jobs so I do understand a little bit about not being able to make ends meet. It is so hard not knowing where your next meal is coming from. That’s where I appreciate this job.
As for anhedonia that’s a hard one. I had to make myself sit down and do my crafty stuff. I didn’t want to but I started gently with diamond art. Slowly it became routine and sometimes I enjoy it but mostly I do it because it’s good for me. Sometimes I will sit and watch tv which changes the direction of my thoughts for a little while but I have to be into it.
For relief it’s the basic things. I have a safety plan so I use that. Having a warm shower is a good one for me. I feel fresher and getting dressed into clothes and shoes rather than pj’s and Ugg boots helps a little. In distress, cold is really good for me which is strange as I don’t like the cold! I’ll have an icy pole, wash my face with cold water or drink a cold can of soft drink. I was doing okish a little while back but I was sticking to a routine which allowed me time for that horrible word of self care. I would have a job list to do the first day of me break and that just involved bathing the dogs and house work stuff and then I would allow myself some time just to do what I wanted. But at the moment with me struggling so badly I have decided I need to get myself into a routine daily.
Is there anything you use to enjoy doing before all of this?
