Talking through trauma and PTSD

The me no one knows - SI warning

The me no one knows - SI warning

I’ve made this space to have somewhere safe to talk and share things.

to chat with every one who has shown concern about and for me.

I have spent almost all my life masking, from as far back as primary school (possibly younger).

almost no one knows the real me. Not sure if I even know the real me.

my past is filled with lots of darkness. People I’ve tried to speak with during my life either don’t believe me or don’t want to know

@AlwaysMyself @Bunniekins @Captain24 @Cuddlebear @rav3n @Jynx

hiding behind the mask pretending nothing is wrong. Putting on brave face whilst inside I’m a shattered pieces. Feeling lost and completely alone. No one wants anything to do with me. Relatives only contact when they want something. Going to bed every night hoping to never wake again

@Flutterbug9 oohhh yay, this is great news and very exciting that it's waiting to be collected ☺️.

How did the evening go for you sweet?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warnin

It was just ok tonight @MissGremlin

I felt tired not long getting there.

forgot to use my eye drops before going out which led to my eyes feeling tired and full of grit most of the night.

quick drink and I’m going to bed

@Flutterbug9 I'm sorry you forgot your eye drops, those feelings sound really uncomfortable.

Hope you can get a good night's sleep sweetheart ❤️

@AuntGlow Hello lovely how are you? I’m so glad you are back at Uni. That’s really good! What creative rhings have you been doing?

I have not connected with Blue Knot. I’ve looked at their website but they don’t seem to have supoorts that I would need? Do you know much about them?

Yes this taper is brutal and there’s medical problems too causing me a lot of distress on top.

All I’ve been able to do is get dressed.

Good afternoon @Cuddlebear,

I am doing well. Very busy, but well! I am working on a little theatre show with a friend. 🎭

Blue Knot are really helpful for those who have experienced complex trauma, and they have a helpline you can contact for free counselling. I was just thinking that could be helpful for you right now to have some extra TLC. What are your thoughts on this idea?

Oh gosh, I am so sorry the tapering is still feeling so intense in the body. What have you been able to do for yourself this week? 💛

Last night wasn’t good @AuntGlow @hence the late reply. Lot of pain from stomach cramps combined with GI pain from diarrhoea. Had a shower and went to bed early in hope to sleep of the pain.

woke late this morning with some discomfort that is there constantly and has been for last few days now.

Im really liking this hair design. Only downside, hairdresser didn’t thin out “fringe area”. My hair in this area is still quite thick and doesn’t sit properly.

Hello @Flutterbug9!

How are you?

I read in another post that your medication has been helping, which is so great to read. Has the discomfort subsided?

Also, how has therapy been?

Ahhhh I feel like there is always something that's off with short hair! I don't love the amount of layers my hairdresser put into my hair, it looks a bit Lego-y haha 🫠 But I am navigating it as best as I can.

Going to a party later tonight and hoping I can somehow make it look cute - wish me luck!

@AuntGlow Hello lovely it is so good to hear from you.

I will try Blue Knot I wasn’t sure if they were any good and I can’t deal with another poor service 😞

This week I’ve had my senior cat very sick in intensive care. It’s been horrendous. 😞

Tomorrow I see vascular surgeon due to clots in my arteries. It’s going to be a really hard day.

Everything is going bad and I’m already so unwell and I’m mostly at home with my nervous system shutdowns and trauma and panic racing through my body. 😞

Oh @Cuddlebear ,

I'm so so sorry to hear this. Please look after yourself. We are thinking about you and hope things improve for both you and your cat.

Sitting wit you at this time.

Wow, I did not realise the trains can also produce sound @Flutterbug9 !

I hope someone from the club will be able and willing to help you with setting them up with digital wiring - it sounds like there are a lot of benefits to that over analogue. But as you say -- alfresco blinds, electrician and cattery first. 😊 Plenty of time still before you need to think too much about the train tracks and wirings. Nice to have something to look forward to though.

Re: post-social "falls" & MH challenges -- it sounds like a lot of rumination & anxiety for you, along with sensory discomfort. Is that correct?

I wonder if there is something that can be tried to help prevent the mental-crash post-mexican-trains. I know it won't help with maintaining the feeling of enjoyment once you leave, but if it could help to not make it a negative-crash lower than the "normal level" (or pre-activity level) of mood, that could be a good thing I'm wondering?

e.g. some soothing music or bath or whatever sensory-soothing might help for you is one idea, to get out any remaining anxiety-energies or to counter the overwhelming sensory of the noisy group?

You mentioned that this weekend had an open day you were helping out in. I hope it went well?

How was the week with getting done the extra things you were wanting to do on top of all the weekly outings you have?

Glad to read your lego was delivered / at the local PO for pick up 😍.

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

@Cuddlebear just read the post about one of your senior cats being unwell, on top of everything else. That is so stressful 😰. I hope they are OK. And I hope the appointment with the vascular surgeon has gone (or does go) well?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

I understand your resistance to a new service @Cuddlebear 💛

If it helps, I have called them and they were kind. I know they aren't a substitute for in-depth, ongoing counselling, but they can provide trauma-informed brief support.

Oh no, I am so sorry Cuddle. That would be really scary. How are they today?

If you feel okay sharing, I would like to hear how your chat with the Vascular surgeon went too?

I can absolutely hear how hard things have been with your mental and physical health... it must be so much to carry. Know that we are here with you and sending all of our love and healing energy your way.

I am curious, what is one thing that is helping you to show up to each day right now?
