Talking through trauma and PTSD

The me no one knows - SI warning

The me no one knows - SI warning

I’ve made this space to have somewhere safe to talk and share things.

to chat with every one who has shown concern about and for me.

I have spent almost all my life masking, from as far back as primary school (possibly younger).

almost no one knows the real me. Not sure if I even know the real me.

my past is filled with lots of darkness. People I’ve tried to speak with during my life either don’t believe me or don’t want to know

@AlwaysMyself @Bunniekins @Captain24 @Cuddlebear @rav3n @Jynx

hiding behind the mask pretending nothing is wrong. Putting on brave face whilst inside I’m a shattered pieces. Feeling lost and completely alone. No one wants anything to do with me. Relatives only contact when they want something. Going to bed every night hoping to never wake again

@Flutterbug9 you've done so much to get it rectified sweet so I'm really hoping there's no issues this time cos it's honestly ridiculous.

It's been a really big day for me, but more so cos of thoughts/feelings (I'm safe). I did make potato salad though, went to the shops and cleaned the bathroom sink.

I'll be glad when the day is over but then I know that tomorrow is going to be no different, just like things are stuck on repeat. I wrote a poem which I shared on my thread earlier today to reflect how I've been feeling, I didn't tag anyone in it cos of its sensitive/triggering nature but it's there if anyone wants to read it.

What's on for you tomorrow sweet?

Tomorrow I’ve got to get chores done I started planning on doing start of this week, most still not touched.

Also change GP Appointment to different day next week.

most days next week I’m going to be in and out of home.

for benefit of me and the cats, this weekend plans are days of DVD watching, feet up, cats nearby

Any plans for yourself next few days @MissGremlin

@Flutterbug9 i hear you with the chores, they are never-ending and sometimes trying to find the motivation just doesn't happen. You say 'most still not touched' which means you've done some so you have done well sweet.

Sounds like next week is a busy one for you, I hope it all goes smoothly.

A weekend watching DVD'S with your feet up and cats nearby sounds absolutely perfect.

I don't have any plans at all. Waiting for my Lego set to arrive so that I can work on that but that's probably not until early February.

Most recent appointment with my new therapist part of out chat touched on me self isolating now for more than 12mths. After asking me why plus how it’s left me feeling she asked if I wanted things to be different, is there things I think I might like to try.

she asks questions of how did xxxx make me feel, why Do I think about xxxx. How do I feel about trying to xxxx.
She got me think how would I feel if I get involved in something.

Tuesday hairdresser appointment, croquet each Wednesday morning. Next week catching up with a friend for morning tea. Next week I’m thinking about going to (need to push myself to go to) game of Mexican trains for couple hours. Trivia once a month in afternoon. Local cinema showing movie The Choral on Sunday afternoon. Friend has said they will go if I go. 😂

Part of my struggles in keeping the interest in going and then actually going.

Thank you for sharing @Flutterbug9

There's a lot to think about as I can see from your post.

How do you feel about what she said?

Despite you 'isolating' yourself, you social life as you've described it seems pretty intense! Way to go LOL! It's more than what I do!

I like the way things are going with this therapist.

i feel that she 100% listening and wanting to know more.

asking me to explore how things did or are making feel is not something I’ve ever had someone do before. Had had its highs and lows. The highs have been great, I’ve remembered and talked about happy moments.

previous therapist used to say I had to get in contact with “little girl inside me”. This therapist helping me explore how I felt and gently asking why I think xxxx.

i feel involved with things. @tyme

2 things she has said she does is getting to know people through general chats, gently testing boundaries and helping people explore their past and their experiences. Also helping people set realistic goals goals for them and helping them work on their goals, preparing to change things anytime

It sounds like it's more a collaborative approach @Flutterbug9 . Also, it's an invitation to try something different as opposed to telling you what you need to do?

This sort of approach works incredibly well for me too. I look forward to hearing some of your ideas as you unpack them. I'm mindful that it takes time and yoy may not have all the answers right now - totally okay.

I'm also thinking that by you sharing your takeaways from the session, this space might actually form a place of consolidation, bouncing off ideas, testing ideas etc. from session to session. Do you think it would be helpful?

Thoughts?
