@Flutterbug9 When I visited my dad over xmas I noticed he acted like he had (unmanaged) adhd - but my mum says he did not use to be like that. So i do think that absolutely these things can change/develop over time/age -- even though it may not then be labeled as "adhd".
I guess then it comes to if it can't be medicated to help like adhd can be, what can be done to help? I wonder whether similar coping/management techniques that many people with adhd have would still be of use?
for example, friends of mine were recently discussing about how they find it helpful to "attach" a task to another one mentally. E.g. whilst waiting for a kettle to boil, they unpack the dishwasher. But it is time-limited so once the kettle stops boiling, they stop unpacking the dishwasher and finish making their hot drink. (It may not get a task completed each time - but the next time they boil the jug, they unpack a little more, etc etc).
As always - what works/helps one person may not help another! But i thought this example was interesting from my friend and stuck in my mind because it turns out it as what I have also done myself without ever having thought about it. I think for me it's how I manage motivation rather than distraction.
I think similarly with OCD too - if we notice similar behaviours/traits, are there techniques we can "borrow" that might help us too?
Hopefully the pdoc may have additional insights in these things too when you see them 🙂
i do wonder if in the future there will be some form of "discovery"/recognition of cPTSD-related autism/adhd/ocd onset or similar lasting effects.
@Flutterbug9 I'm not 100% sure, but I think @Cuddlebear 's question re: the remotes was in relation to the model trains - it was a little after you had posted about going to the model train show. 😊
Your questions are the croquet sound quite reasonable to me also @Flutterbug9 . It is puzzling that they didn't do a proper round-robin where all teams play each other at least 1 time 🤔.
I assume each team plays once per week? (i.e. 4 games of 2 teams in each = 8 teams)
I can understand if it felt/thought that maybe there is some reason behind it such as "xxx doesn't want to play against yyy person" - I know they are the types of things my brain worries about when I worry if I have upset someone and maybe they are trying to avoid me.
