Talking through trauma and PTSD

The me no one knows - SI warning

The me no one knows - SI warning

I’ve made this space to have somewhere safe to talk and share things.

to chat with every one who has shown concern about and for me.

I have spent almost all my life masking, from as far back as primary school (possibly younger).

almost no one knows the real me. Not sure if I even know the real me.

my past is filled with lots of darkness. People I’ve tried to speak with during my life either don’t believe me or don’t want to know

@AlwaysMyself @Bunniekins @Captain24 @Cuddlebear @rav3n @Jynx

hiding behind the mask pretending nothing is wrong. Putting on brave face whilst inside I’m a shattered pieces. Feeling lost and completely alone. No one wants anything to do with me. Relatives only contact when they want something. Going to bed every night hoping to never wake again

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

I was looking for your thread @Flutterbug9 . I just did a search and realised this was the very thread that you started!

I just wanted to check in to see how you are going.

Also, I've been very interested to hear the origin of your forums name - if you want to share. Here's mine What does your forums' name mean?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

I was the opposite @AlwaysMyself

I had small group of good friends in primary school.

grade 5 & 6, my interest and ability with maths started to become obvious.

started to show I had way of teaching others and helping maths make sense.

somewhere through grade 6, with fellow class mates having been taught about bodily changes etc and my knowledge was zero, I started to feel different and treated differently

with everything happening with my father, my inability to participate in gym after spinal injury at school in form 1 plus knowledge & comfort zone about bodily changes etc, high school was total opposite to primary school for me. My studies was what got me through my years at high school. Half way through form 5 my marks were in top (either 5 or 10%, can’t remember) of my level. One very special teacher who had some info about my home life, told me to not do form 6. To go to TAFE instead, also to change my vocation goal.

first friend teenage years I met around the time I finished form 5. We lived one street apart, me in a house, her in a children’s home. She was one of xx number I got to know and became friends with that were stolen generation children. My indigenous uncle and aunt were her cottage parents (closest current day comparison would be foster parents). 2 teenagers who became great friends, differences in skin colouring meant nothing to us.

Awwww. That's so powerful. @Flutterbug9 Thanks for opening up.

Am I right in saying you had an injury at school and it has affected you up until this day?

I’m catching up on posts whilst phone is charging and whilst having something light to eat @tyme

I came across couple items on FB that described things to do with me 100%. First items on this thread.

title of the thread I settled on based on wording in those 2 items.

thread title becoming more and more appropriate as I share more about me

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

First year in high school @tyme I did a somersault, due to teacher trying to get the class to more faster than we were, I didn’t line up square on. End of somersault saw me only partly on the mat, rest of me on wooden basketball court floor (floor of our school indoors gym.

I cracked 2 vertebrae in my knee area open as result of the somersault. Now have disc degeneration in same area

Very interesting @Flutterbug9

Yes, I'm learning a lot more. I hope that's okay. Please let me know if I ever ask too many questions! I don't want to ever overstep.

I had roast chicken and veges for brunch.

I don't have much planned for the rest of the day. What about you?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

@Flutterbug9 ouch!! When i just read you had a spinal injury in form 1 i wondered if that had contributed to your OA or disc issues now - i see tyme had same thought and answer is yes for discs. Ouchy 😰. Such a young age too, to have then lived with the misalignment/damage and pain since!

Did you end up leaving after Form 5 to go to TAFE instead?

Was that recommended by the teacher because it would get you away from the negative school peer environment?

(I am used ti teacher recommend students not to do senior years if they are not academic/exam-natured (and are interested in a trade/practical career), and i know this does not align with you because as you said you got really good grades despite the circumstances).

I considered leaving school in/after Year 11, because of my depression and finding the social environment and slow pace of school classes and physical fatigue to be exacerbating. But the correspondance-school options were not suitable for me / my subjects for the HSC not offered, and the school which was structured like a university lecturers was 1.5hr travel *each way* everyday. And i knew a trade via TAFE was not for me either, so i resigned to staying in my school and only doing 4 days/week.

What were your favourite (most interesting or because of a good teacher) subjects at school?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

Few hours ago I knew if I went and didn’t feel up to staying long, was only short drive home. If I didn’t go, I’d regret it. So glad I decided to go.

didnt feel up to getting a camera out and taking with me. Didnt realise until I got there that I had very small amount of charge on my phone.

managed to take some photos @tyme @AlwaysMyself @Cuddlebear before charge ran out. Missed out on taking photos of couple layouts I wanted to photograph. Good time all up. Spoke to one person about 2 very small layouts and they shared lots of information, bit too complicated for my head.

looking at one layout and got talking to small group,of people who turned out to be from local model railway group. They suggested I think about attending their rooms with possibility of me joining their club and getting involved with their layouts, gain knowledge from them and have opportunity to run my own trains on one of their layouts

hoping photos turn out ok so I can share soon

Please free feel to ask @tyme

I much prefer people asking then not being sure and assuming.
