Wind-down Wednesday

Wind-down Wednesday

This time of year can be difficult for a lot of people for many different reasons. Some find joy and some find loneliness and pain.

During this time we need to look out for ourselves. I struggle with self-care but as my psych put it yesterday it’s about maintenance. You service your car you need to service yourself.

What is something little you can do today and over the next coming days to maintain your mind and body. Could it be sitting and having a coffee and relishing the moment not thinking about what is next or what is coming? Noticing the warmth that it gives. Could it be reading a little bit of a book and focusing on that? Spending time with a pet and feeling the love and connection? Or anything that takes just 5 minutes to be out of your mind and just be. Focus on that moment.

For me I’m going to have a bath and just focus on the scent of the candle and listen to my white noise and hopefully block everything else out.

It’s part of the wind down Wednesday thread. @rav3n is going to merge it to the other one. @Jynx

I don’t know that I have anything for today.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

Hi Everyone
Wednesday has come around again and I had another idea for Wind Down(?) Wednesday's.
It’s the start of January, and maybe you have been thinking of things to do for the new year.
I was thinking hobbies is a good one. I think of hobbies as some self-care time, something to bring joy into our days, and something that I can just sit and do and focus on rather than having to think or feel the thoughts in my head.
Perhaps as some self-care, we can get stuck into some hobbies this week! For me, I haven’t done diamond art in months, so I have gotten it out of the cupboard and set it up. It’s all there ready to go, so I can jump into it when I feel like it over the next few days. I'm hoping to see if it brings back the enjoyment it used to have, a sense of joy and a sense of self-care.
Do you have new hobbies you would like to try? Old ones that you want to get back into? Or will you continue with the same ones?
Are your hobbies self-care too? What do you get out of engaging in your hobbies?

@Captain24 @Shaz51 my craft stuff is piled up and in my clutter. For now I'd like to get back to reading!

Craft is on my wish list for later.

Getting back into reading sounds really good @Dimity something to take your mind to good places.

It's just a whodunit at the moment @Captain24 but I'm trying to stop doomscrolling so much.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

Love this @Captain24 😍

My hobbies have been difficult to engage with whilst my house is still in its 'super cluttered' stage of de-cluttering 😅 But maybe I could dust off my D&D stuff, get stuck into a solo campaign or even think about designing a new one - been thinking about donning the title of 'Dungeon Master' for a few friends but I would need to do lots of planning first!

Tagging a few more peeps!!

Pls feel free to tag anyone that @Shaz51 and I have missed! 😊

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

January used to be my favourite month as it’s holiday time. The beach, shopping, cricket and tennis but my hobbies are knitting and reading. I’ve already read 2 books this year so I’ll get the knitting out.

Happy New Year All!!!

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

Hey @Dimity

That sounds like it would keep you engaged. When I use to read i was into pathological thrillers and it was always about seeing what happened next.

Doom scrolling is hard. It’s so addictive and definitely not helpful. It’s actually the first thing I do when I wake up. I’m trying to break it too though.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

Oh.. the decluttering!! @Jynx. I’ll come and sort it for you. 😜

I really don’t understand D&D but I know you love it and haven’t talked about it in a while. It sounds like something to think about and have some chill time. Planning sounds like a lot of work.
