Wind-down Wednesday

Wind-down Wednesday

This time of year can be difficult for a lot of people for many different reasons. Some find joy and some find loneliness and pain.

During this time we need to look out for ourselves. I struggle with self-care but as my psych put it yesterday it’s about maintenance. You service your car you need to service yourself.

What is something little you can do today and over the next coming days to maintain your mind and body. Could it be sitting and having a coffee and relishing the moment not thinking about what is next or what is coming? Noticing the warmth that it gives. Could it be reading a little bit of a book and focusing on that? Spending time with a pet and feeling the love and connection? Or anything that takes just 5 minutes to be out of your mind and just be. Focus on that moment.

For me I’m going to have a bath and just focus on the scent of the candle and listen to my white noise and hopefully block everything else out.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

Hi @Captain24 @AuntGlow @rav3n @Cuddlebear @Chasingsunsets and others here.

Over this Christmas break, I plan to take time out to read some magazines I purchased today and spray some lavender spray as I need to relax before moving week starts for me on 5 January to my new uni accommodation. This past year has been quite full on with housing issues and taking on a caring role for my housemate who has had a bad year with mental and physical health issues so I’m over it! Time to start a new year fresh and healthy and full of new adventures - uni student style!

Take care!

@Shaz51 , that sounds very nice,

I'm opting for a chamomile now, got a bit anxious with the infusion and trying to recalibrate my nervous system. They say it can temporarily exacerbate anxiety symptoms as the system receives an iron overload and needs to equalise it.

The only thing left on my to-do list is unpack the dishwasher but it has to finish first. @AuntGlow Ive just had a shower and washed my hair and running that bath as I speak! Looking forward to some me time!

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@rav3n I like to listen to a bit of jazz or instrumentals of Disney haha,

In terms of shows, I always circle back to dance academy, totally obsessed as a child or law and order, I like to get caught up in the investigation of things, Brooklyn nine nine is great! Always gives me a good laugh, I would also say The inbetweeners, Friday night dinner, offspring and I think I'll try finding McLeod's daughters again... I loved that ❤️

That sounds good @Judi9877. It sounds like you need a break and time to yourself. Caring must be hard when you have your own battles to deal with. Is the uni accommodation just you or will you have housemates there too?

Thanks for the tag @rav3n

Good topic @Captain24

Not sure if I was winding down today. Ended up going out.

Am planning on a nice shower afterwards.

I actually did find a colouring book I'd forgotten I had the other day. Perhaps that might help.

@Judi9877 Sounds like such a good plan. What are you studying?

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

I have everything in the oven cooking and I’m just sitting here allowing myself 10 minutes of peace before my parents arrive.

What are you doing for yourself this morning?
