General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

@Shaz51, so good you are in a different phase of your life now. Same here, it feels like a lot of extremely bad times are behind me for now. A positive aspect of being older maybe. Best for your sad day tomorrow.

Re: General chit chat

Hi Niqua, an early morning hug to you! I wonder what adventures will arise in your day. Do you know that Sheryl Crow song, 'Every Day Is A Winding Road'? I heard it in a cafe almost 20 years ago at a time when my days really were very surprisingly winding! I remember the song often. For some reason, I am thinking of it now in relation to you.

Responding to some of what you said in your 'long rave' from yesterday...

Indeed the lurgy seems to be everywhere. Ads for cold and flu remedies on TV. Every cold and flu medication in the chemist shop now rearranged in front display, vaporiser filling the air with steam. I wonder whether I caught my lurgy from the chemist shop!

It's good to read how well you look after yourself with the colds and flus. I can only dream of being so capable of self care! But I do pick up little tips along the way and incorporate them where I can. For example, I was drinking a lot of liquorice tea, which is good for coughs and chest. I was drinking a lot of water. I was keeping myself warm, sleeping sometimes in the armchair. I did the steam inhalation. I used the inhaler only when needed. I think I have had acute bronchitis with a flare of smoking-related asthma. My doctor has already checked me out thoroughly last year for lung issues. There are some chronic issues. I have been prescribed two inhalers. But I only use the emergency one at times like last night. I feel I am starting to recover well from it now though.

I know what you mean about getting a reprieve from web life when something goes wrong with the technology, and doing other things more grounded in the really real. The net connection has been strong again here for the past 24 hours either way.

Haven't really needed to rug up on the beach much this winter at all so far. And I think we're getting more hot weather coming through again too. Mostly I'm out there barefoot with capri pants, t-shit and oversized long sleeve shirt. I never have taken coffee or tea but sometimes I remember to take water, especially if I'm going to be sitting for a while in my favourite spot next to the small tea tree.

Thanks for the constant stream of healing love. It seems to be helping. Love to you.

Gidday Mazy 🙂 @Mazarita

What a beautiful surprise to wake up to 🙂 ... an early morning hug! - here's a later one right back at ya!

I hitched a ride with a vending machine repair man
He says he's been down this road more than twice
He was high on intellectualism
I've never been there but the brochure looks nice
Jump in, let's go
Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low,
These are the days when anything goes

[Chorus]
Everyday is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
Everyday is a faded sign
I get a little bit closer to feeling fine

He's got a daughter he calls Easter
She was born on a Tuesday night
I'm just wondering why I feel so all alone
Why I'm a stranger in my own life
Jump in, let's go
Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low
These are the days when anything goes

[Chorus]

I've been swimming in a sea of anarchy
I've been living on coffee and nicotine
I've been wondering if all the things I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening

[Chorus]

Even when I read the title of that song it rang a bell - you know when your reading something and then all of a sudden your not reading it in your head anymore . . . your singing it 🙂 Of course I looked it up, listened to it {I hadn't heard it for years!} and read the lyrics; and of course I'm going to find meaning in it because you sent the seed of interest in your message. Here's a thought, if cyber-space was magical-space - then cyber-friends would be magic-friends 🙂 But WOW that song is me, especially the last verse 😄

My child works at a chemist and then goes home to a houseful of 5 children, their partner, the partners Parents and, I don't know, up to a dozen other regular visitors to the household - it's a very busy home 😉 They always have some sort of bug making it's way through the Human population there 🙂 But then, you don't need to worry about Public health area's for catching the Lurgy, when you have 5 children in school!

I guess you learn to look after yourself when you've only got yourself to look after you when your sick. I hate getting ill alone, it's no fun at all. It's times like that that I feel my loneliest, my most vulnerable - so I try to 'jump on' any bug that even attempts to bring me down 😄 I'm going to have to look-into Liquorice Tea, I remember Bella2 bringing it up - I like the liquorice/aniseed flavour, and it does seem to help move some goo out of the chest a bit quicker. I'm sorry you have some chronic issues, but relieved to hear you feel your recovering well now 🙂

The days here are beautiful, I am very lucky to own a little piece of the bush 😄 Nights are still chilly for the next few though, being zero or below, but it's not until late in the evening so I really only light the fire to warm the air before I go to bed.

Thank-you for the image of Barefoot Maz, for some reason in my mind the capri-pants are khaki, and I have to point out {because it's just too funny not to:D} that you state your wearing a 't-shit'!!!HAHAHA!!!! But after it finished rolling-around-laughing 😄 😄 😄 my mind pictured a dark, navy blue T-shirt :), and a deep tan/burnt orange over-sized long-sleeve shirt. It put it all into a water-color painting of you, back towards me, about a km down the beach - it's a beautiful picture 🙂

Receiving the upload, sending the love

Niqua.

Re: General chit chat

Good afternoon, Niqua.

I don't think I've ever seen all the lyrics before of 'Every Day Is A Winding Road'. For me the key phrases were, 'every day is a winding road' and 'I get a little bit closer to feeling fine'. I like that line you selected too, it resonates with me as well. I've had a few near-death type experiences in my life (also counting panic that made me feel like I was dying). I sometimes wonder if I'm living in the afterlife, lol. Not seriously, just a recurring, passing thought. My body feels too heavy and vulnerable to illness to be a ghost!

I think cyberspace is a magical kind of place. I grew up in flats with my mum where we didn't even have a telephone (couldn't afford one), and had to walk out to use the payphone, if it worked (they got vandalised a lot)! No answering machines back then either. It wasn't easy catching people on the phone! So, anyway, magic friends, I'd say yes!

Sounds like a bug fest at the centre of your universe. C works in childcare and probably brought home this lurgy of mine from there.

I have spent years living alone in my life but never really learned how to look after myself properly. I just tended to get thinner, eat worse and become more manic during those times. Being acutely ill alone is not good. I got terribly sick with feverish, delirious lurgies when I was travelling overseas a couple of times. I just had to lie in bed alone in the hotel rooms, sleep and wait for it to pass. I admire how the need for self-sufficiency has been the mother of healing invention in your life.

You are so lucky to own a little piece of the bush! Glad the chilly nights are getting shorter.

By the way, the capri pants were beige the day in question. Other days they are mauve. As for the 'T-shits' (lol), they're black, just for underneath things on cooler days. The navy blue was almost right for the shirt, as was the oversized prediction. I was wearing one that is a kind of midnight indigo. On other days I have many different colours and patterns of op shop shirts. I like bright colours and patterns on the top. Yes, I'm always barefoot on the beach because I like to walk along with my feet in the shallows.

Hey, now that you've imagined me a km down the beach, I think I'll turn around and wave at you.

Love down the line to you, sister.

Re: General chit chat

hello my Scottish sister @Mazarita

Last night went surprisingly good, it was our future son in law`s 40th bithday , we drove to my stepdaughters first , that was nice , and then we went to the Pub for a birthday dinner with 12 of us which was nice , mr shaz thought it was going to be a BIG thing but it was nice and then we went back to our daughter`s and she asked if we wanted to stay overnight but i knew mr shaz would want to go home

We watched a show called "you can`t asked that" AND IT WAS ABOUT sudicial attempts which brought tears to my eyes as mr shaz talked about his few attempts in his life , he opened up avout wanting o take double the dose as he thinks it is not working

tonight I am going out while he is staying home

how are you today xx

Re: General chit chat

@Shaz51, so great to hear you had an enjoyable social night last night, without Mr Shaz finding it too hard. Does he want to take double the dose of his meds now so that they will work better at alleviating his mental health issues? Of course we here would say to only do that in consultation with a doctor or Mr Shaz could inadvertently make himself worse. But I know he is not always down for doctors influence at this time. Seems hard for you to have to just witness, not always being heard on these issues. Sounds like a new development, you going out with him staying at home. Sounds like a good strategy for satisfying both of you.

Today I am in recovery mode again. I've been complaining of my very nasty lurgy all over the forum, lol, and am still struggling with it, though on the mend. Yesterday I managed to do a lot even with the heavy chest infection, including 3km walking on the beach, changing sheets, doona cover, pillowslips. I've never managed to learn that nifty technique for getting the doona cover on in one shake, so it always takes me lots of huffing and puffing to do that job. Yesterday, I did it in stages, pillowslips first, then rest, then sheet, then rest, then doona cover. Also tidied up the kitchen and did dishes. Helped with some domestic things at my friends place too, who I visited after one leg of the beach walk. And some video editing. Phew. that's a fair bit for me, even when relatively well. Not surprisingly, I need to do almost nothing today. But at least it was lovely sleeping in my fresh bed last night. And, after spending most of the day in sleepwear, I'm dressed now!

Hope you have a lovely evening out as a solo traveller tonight.
