General chit chat

General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

Re: General chit chat

Hello Everyone 🙂

I've just come back from a walk with my young fella, it was an on-lead walk. I had to fix his 'gentle-leader' {like a halter for dogs} as the last time I visited the Center of my Universe, he chewed through it! I replaced the chewed bit with chain and it works perfectly again 😄 I'd just gotten to feeling a bit more confident about taking him for off-lead walks along my little dirt road again {the d*ckhead neighbours that drove like the clappers have gone :)}, when, just a few days back, as we were doing just that . . . we discovered someone up the road has gotten goats! It was terribly exciting, I've got to tell you! . . the young fella had a ball! . . . . luckily {and strangly for out here} they were in a proper fence. But it still took ages before I could get his attention and get him away! I was hoping they'd be there again and this time we could go about it in a far more restrained manner; but they were nowhere to be seen {fancy that after having an American Staffordshire Terrier race around their paddock for 1/2 and hour or more!}.

We did get plenty of lessons in restraint though (gotta be one of the hardest lessons for the young :)), as we walked around our 'block' we came across a man on his 4 wheeler with 2 little dogs in the front basket, 2 cars and a motorbike drove past on the bitchumen road! 2 puddles on the side of the road with birds drinking from them and even a kangaroo!! Many times he just stopped and sat, I think these would have been the times he would have taken off into the bush, I stopped and looked in the direction that he was - but I couldn't see anything unusual, I think it's sounds that he heads for. I think he's pretty tuned in to the likes of a snap of a twig, the russling of grasses or leaves and the fact that often it's some kind of critter making those sounds happen.

When we got back to our little road I let him off as lead walks don't really even touch his energy exertion needs, but I do believe they are a great source of mental stimulation, that he wouldn't be able to have off lead. He immediately took off into the bush, again I saw nothing out of the usual, but we'd seen the kangaroo just before we'd gotten there - so maybe he was just hoping 🙂 He wasn't gone long, he's much better at returning, ever since I think he encountered a wild pig in the State Forest. We got back to the house just on tea time and now he's contentedly curled up on the recliner beside me. I don't take the little dog on lead walks with us, it's too hard, I want to be able to enjoy the walk and stimulation of sights too - not get tangled up, fall over and break a hip! 🙂 But he enjoyed his dinner as well (as did the cat) and is now curled up by my feet on the computer chair I use as a foot stool 🙂

It's starting to get a little cool and I'm thinking about lighting the fire, might think about my dinner too 🙂

Just felt like chatting - so I did 😄

I'm thinking very seriously about going to the Dentist, there's one in the next town over that gives %10 off for pensioners and it has a payment plan. I don't know how the Government system works for Dentists, I went to one at the hospital in the nearest city a year or 2 ago and it didn't cost me a penny - but I've been trying to 'get my head around' going there again for too long and it's just not happening.

The tooth isn't hurting, I don't think I've got many nerves left - but the soreness in my gums is now running up my face and in my ear . . . I think it's just a matter of time before I get sick. I wonder whether it's had a little bit to do with the hot/colds? But then there's 'getting my head around' going into somewhere I've never gone into. I was going to look at where it was today, . . . but I didn't.

Oh well, rant and rave. I'm kind of hopint that 'writing it out loud' sort of thing, will help motorvate me.

Hi Niqua, this is a page about free government dental services in Queensland:

https://www.health.qld.gov.au/oralhealth/services/adult

This is the list of phone numbers for the various districts:

https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/153700/hhs_contact_list.pdf

When you ring, tell them it is emergency dental for the same reasons you have outlined here. It make take some time to get an appointment but they should give you one, I think. I get treated by the government dental and have an appointment coming up for emergency treatment in August (filling has fallen out). I find them the nicest dentists of all, being more used to encountering all kinds of people. Personally I'd much prefer going to them than a private dentist.

Thank you Mazy 🙂 @Mazarita

I looked at those links and the closest one is a couple of hours away, then there's the thing {no-ones fault but my own} that I haven't made a phone call for years now. I need to be able to go in, make enquires - as best I can, and return for the appointment. I also worry about getting home afterwards, though the needle normally works for an hour or 2.

Thank you so much for caring and doing that for me 🙂

Re: General chit chat

No worries, @Former-Member, mate.

Perhaps, then, your original idea of going into the town and getting the private appointment is the best option. I would like to see you get as much help as possible for your physical wellbeing.
