General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

Re: General chit chat

@Former-Member, I'm avoiding doing some video work at the moment in order to write to you (much more fun at present!) I have just finished a new video and am in the process of writing about making it, and the ones completed earlier in the year, for something I will publish on the net. I'm about a third of the way through a fairly long piece of writing and have run out of steam for now.

I continue to be amazed at how you pulled off your recent trip. Interesting to know you were right out of your safety zone. Makes me feel a little less of a coward to know that you did it but only by overcoming fear. Your diet out there, not so great. But whatever gets you through, and I am no-one to talk about diet! I've been living mostly on toasted sandwiches for dinner for quite some time. So happy it was such a wonderful experience for you out there!

Companion is now in 'a process' with his work. They may be too afraid to sack him at the moment because of the process that's been put in motion with Fair Work. His boss is treating him well (a contrast to how it was up until now). They have put some 'friendly' pressure on him to drop his pay claim but he is sticking to it. We both suspect that, as soon as he dropped it, they would sack him anyway. Bear in mind that the only thing they really have against him is that he has stuck up for his entitled rights as a worker in their workplace. They are breaking the law in their employment practices and it affects more than just him. It's also been going on for about six years. Even if nothing comes of it, companion feels that it is all worthwhile just for sticking up for himself in the workplace for once. Although it's not immediately obvious when you meet him, he is a meek and gentle man on the whole.

As for me, well my health symptoms never completely go, just as you live in an ongoing way with your chronic conditions. But the three-week headache has passed. There is no more sign of shingles after taking the anti-virals (and no more unexplained bruises). And I've been taking long walks on the beach throughout the week (about 2-4km, the best I can do with my feet and leg problems).

With your slideshow to music, I would suggest the best option might be to use the Windows Movie Maker software, if you have that on your PC (I'm guessing you might have PC like me). If not, I think the program would be iMovie on a Mac. It might take a little while to work out how to do what you want to do. But it's a fairly simple process of laying out your stills as you like and editing it to the music where you want to cut to beats. This may seem a bit involved though if you haven't used these programs before. Unfortunately I don't know of any slide-show makers that automatically cut to music, though they may exist. To find those, I'd suggest maybe doing some Google searches. But be careful what sites you download programs from. If they are not reputable, you could be downloading malware. If you did go with Windows Movie Maker or iMovie though, it would also be a first step to learning video editing. I'm not really a video-making evangelist, but it is hours of fun once you get into it!

Today the NBN are coming to connect our flat to the new broadband network. Just the cabling so that it's ready to go. I will be here most of the day waiting for them probably, trying to get myself back to my writing about the videos work. It's an unusually chilly day here though the sun is shining. I'm rather rugged up for this neck of the woods (we avoid using the heater in winter to help save the planet). Later I'll go again to my friend's place to bring her rubbish bin back in from the kerb and check for mail. Other than that, there's still my long patient list of domestic duties to get to if I can get over my extreme reluctance.

Sending lots of smiles back to you, and hugs!

Good morning @Former-Member
I most certainly did like those photos. Im so glad you had agreat time and im so proud of you for giving it a go and sticking with it. Im super glad you kept at it even though you thought you were lost.
Im still pretty much the same though I have made a few decsions regarding treatment yesterday still trying to work out the rest but Ive got an idea at least. I just hope its the right one.
Im kinda use to camping. We use to do 2-3 day horse shows and we ended up sleeping in the horse float in the nights as well. The only thing I worried about was toilets- I wasnt going in the bush though when we use to do the long bush rides we didnt have much of a choice.
You did awesome- you shouldnt be ashamed or anything I couldne be more prouder than I am of you.

My horse had the vet out yesterday and my bill is at 350! she still needs another round of antibiotics which means still going there 3 times a day. The rain here is making it hard though so im trying to go in between breaks of wind and rain. And she is a she 🙂
yeah she knocked me for 6 about a week ago I think I might have had a mild concussion but its gone now and im fine.

My solution to the bullies in the yard is to avoid and if I cant avoid ignore. Its their issue and tehey semi avoid me now so makes it abit easier.

The doctors- ive still gotta go every week for medication check ups but I think ive finished with tests for now. I had swabs redone again to check for another infection but I dont think I need to have any more don. Ive done everything they have asked so hopefully its ok

its not really an easier day for me- my sisters sick so im taking care of her until mum gets back from work which shouldnt be too long now

good morning @Mazarita 🙂

Re: General chit chat

Hello Mazy,

Glad to give you a distraction from your video work for a moment 🙂 I never imagined you'd have to write about making your videos as well! That's a bit of exposing the soul more and more isn't it! 😮 I might not have been able to see your videos, but I've seen your writing and if your videos are only half as good as your writing, that's going to make for one impressive package 🙂 😉

I'm still aglow with my trip, though it feels less and less real with each moment that passes - I know I did it, I've got the pictures to prove it . . . and my friends on this forum 😄 We are not cowards Mazy (well if we are that's OK), we have physical problems in our bodies, including our brains. Those problems can lead to us eating improperly, (Maybe you could try toasted vegi sandwiches? Or maybe blend up some of those vegi smoothies?:D) amongst other things.

I'm glad your companion is in a better place at his work due to standing up for his rights. It seems some bosses (or just people in general) only find respect for those that stand up and say no! . . . otherwise they just trample everyone in their path! I'm proud of your companion for withstanding the 'friendly pressure', I think I know what that's like a little - because your quiet they feel they can bully you into anything . . . including knowing they are blatantly breaking the law! I think your companion is right, their is nothing more worthwhile than standing up for your personal beliefs, whether he keeps the job or not.

2-4 km walks, your doing really well! So glad the headaches, possible shingles and unexplainable bruising has passed! What feet and leg problems do you have? I should do a check up of my Mazy knowledge - I believe you have Crones disease, an immunity problem like my Psoriasis. I know with my problem it was just scaly skin for the first decade! . . . then my gut started playing up, . . then my neck and finally all my joints. Are your feet and leg problems related to your Crones?

I found a spot to do my slide-show, not really what I wanted as I can't see anyway to download it back to my computer (it saves it to you-tube), but it gives me a link :-

I'm probably gobbling up my whole 8GB of data I get for the month, but like you with your videos, I'm not a professional, I wouldn't want to have to do it - but I just really enjoy playing with them 🙂 If I could just get some software and hold onto it long enough to 'learn' which buttons I like best. This is a fairly new (could be getting onto a year now) computer, and I haven't 'felt like' playing much for a while. I think I needed something different; I have about a dozen people in the center of my Universe, plenty of people and situations to photograph and make slide-shows of - but I think because the center of my Universe is the only other place I go other than my backyard . . . it became like an extension of my backyard . . . it became the same - not different.

I hope the NBN service person didn't make you wait too long :l I'm jealous! I can't even get phone-line Internet here - it's wireless or satellite . . . and last I had satellite it was waaaaayyyy expensive! 😄

I'm enjoying the cool 🙂 It does mean my neck and shoulders (particularly my right{ especially after the river wake-up!}) are playing up quite a bit! Though I don't know if it's the temperature so much as the physical exertion involved with the ancient Olympic sport of branch breaking? Add the trip and the inevitable heavy crates, climbing up and down the step ladder to the roof-rack, lots of extra walks up and down hills, etc. I am feeling a little old 😄 Though I did manage to get one of those dreaded domestic duties done yesterday, I did the washing as I had the generator on to use the electric clippers on the little fellas prickles - the mangled-mess mission was a success and I didn't have to take all of his coat off; just shaved his back-legs and his butt, including his tail - he does look a bit bare-bottomed at the moment 😄

Sending you extra positive healing, love and hugs, so you can share them with your companion and friend.

Niqua 🙂

Hello @outlander 🙂

I'm glad you liked the photos 🙂 I've done a slide-show of them, that I've put in the link for in this thread. Thank-you for your pride in me It's good to hear 'your pretty much the same'; it feels to me like some sort of even-ground - perhaps all your hard work at distraction from negative thoughts, causing physical changes in your body through the processes of your brain, is beginning to pay off. Maybe you've reached a balance point and by continuing to choose positive thoughts and actions, within your limitations - you can start to build up your positive thought and action limitations and continue to heal Your doing brilliantly!

No decision is guaranteed right or wrong, but it is your own - yours to make or break, change or rearrange as necessary. I'm confident you've made the best ones for you at this time 🙂

I thought you might be camping confident 🙂 But I might be 'one-up' on you? A toilet isn't an essential for my camping, it's a bonus - a darned good one! . . . but not a necessity 🙂

Your poor horse! . . even though she's costing you a pretty penny :l . . . and it means facing award people (that I think your doing the best to deal with) where you should be able focused on her and bad weather for you both as well I hope the weather at least has cleared a little for you? The concussion would have explained some of the nausea you've been feeling, so I'm glad that's gone now.

I'm relieved for you that the tests at the Doctors have finished and your medical routine is back to normal. You have done all that they asked for, and in doing so you have taken all possible doubt from your own mind. You have done the right thing 🙂 Now to work on the light getting brighter in the darkness - every time you eat right, sleep well, do something positive - your own body healing will get stronger 🙂

I'm sorry your Sister's sick, but know she'll be getting the best of care with you. Perhaps focusing on tending her needs helps a little with distraction? I hope she's feeling much better today.

Sending you lots of love and hugs

Niqua

Re: General chit chat

Hey @Former-Member, great that you were able to put the video together and get it on youtube. High five again! I remember hearing that song when I was a little one. It further enhanced the feeling of your trip for me. Here is a video I have posted before on the forum, this time just for you. It was a forum-collaboration between me and PeppiPatty a couple of years ago, using only our forum names: https://youtu.be/u5PBXR5CXoU

The NBN is still drilling through concrete in the building at home. Taken longer than they thought. I am at friend's place again. I don't know if it will be worth spending money connecting to NBN while there is doubt about whether we will be in the same place after our lease ends. Or there may be no choice once it is connected, I don't know. Taking that as it comes, I guess.

Sore neck and shoulders, damn. Muscles sounds like they really got a workout. Your psoriasis sounds nasty. I get the neck and shoulder issues a lot (osteo-arthritis in neck and feet). Probably more because my dad had it than to do with crohns at this time. I also have chronic tendon and muscle issues in my lower legs. Not too severe but enough to be limiting to how far I can walk and how fast. Being on the computer so much doesn't help neck and shoulders either.

Sending warm vibes and hugs back to you too, friend.
