@Shaz51 Hi. My day is going okay. I'm just cleaning the house and doing some exercise today. I hope you have fun at the party.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 6th December 2025

@Messylife I'm sorry to hear this. The exact same thing happened to me at uni too. Here are your options:

1. Just try your best to get everything done. This can mean you have to hand in assignments half finished- as long as the in-text citations and reference list have been done properly, it doesn't matter if you didn't complete it. A half-done assignment will still get you some marks- uni's will also often do a small bump up on overall grade if you have handed everything in. You could still scrape a pass if you work really hard for it.

2. Self-advocate. Go to the GP or psychologist and get some medical evidence to back up why you are so behind. Most uni's will give you up to 14 days extension if you provide them with proof of psychological distress. However, this usually only applies if due dates have not yet passed. Once the due date has passed there is a limit to how much self-advocacy can help you. One thing you can do after the due date is get a refund on your HECS debt for any units that you failed due to mental illness.

3. Take care of yourself first. Your mental health is important. If you think pushing yourself any further will harm your mental wellbeing, you can stop. Yes, it means a fail grade but your health is so much more important than that. I failed all my subjects one semester and yes it was upsetting but life continued. If you fail everything it may mean 'disciplinary action' from the uni if you want to continue the course. I went through this, and it was a lot better than it sounds, it was really just problem solving with uni staff to work out how to avoid this happening again. It is okay to rest and let everything work itself out for now.

So just pick the option that sounds right to you and commit to it. Whatever you decide, you are a valuable person and have a lot to offer the world.

Thanks @Realness . I am trying to clear transactions on paypal and then close my account. I am finding the message service and help centre overwhelming. It is not very helpful it is too confusing so is the youtube video. I can’t seem to focus. What I need is a phone number. I have given up for the day and am having a drink and trying to watch a bit of the cricket.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 6th December 2025

@Ruby26 Thank you for your advice.

I will try to just do something. I have a week extension due to illness but have not taken the GP/psychologist route yet. Been there before. My GP is also my ex boss and I quit for MH reasons to study so I feel really embarrassed it's not working out.

My assignment shouldn't be this hard, and the lecturers have been great at stepping us through each part. It's just a mental block. Almost like my mind is taking a stand against the stress and saying just quit, quit , quit ! It's not worth the mental load.

Last trimester I was sure to fail after a shocking exam but somehow I passed. I should have stepped back then.

I have a week less a couple of travel days. If I can just do a few hundred words a day.
