I got to give my first Christmas present today, an A5 hand sewn bound book of a curated selection of my poetry from this year.

The cover was initially created with soft pastels and scanned to make a digital image that came out beautifully on 210gsm gloss card.

My colleague loved it and was happy to be first (I wanted to see someone's reaction before I decided if I needed to change anything in relation to the binding)

I love giving something meaningful, it really does make me smile

@MissGremlin This was the image I scanned without the writing, it's a wrap around cover, so it's folded in half to make the front and back covers.

I have 29 left to bind 😅

Handmade gifts are so, so special @avant-garde. I think for me, I dislike when there's a sense of 'obligation' around gift-giving; I refuse to buy just like, random crap because I feel like I have to get gifts. Something handmade to me always indicates care and thoughtfulness. I love the rainbow!! Handmade books are so impressive, my mum made me one in an art class once and I couldn't believe how much work went into it!

To be honest, I find both the words 'love' and 'hate' to be very strong words. I'm cautious when using it to describe my relationship with people. I tend to be less cautious when using the words to describe things. e.g. I love chocolate.

I'm hearing your perspectives though.

Christmas truly can be so vulnerable for many people...

So, I think creating this thread for those who feel the same is a wonderful idea - and a great opportunity for everyone to support one another. 🥰

PS: The Grinch is definitely my favourite Christmas movie. 💚
