Self care by growing a garden

Self care by growing a garden

A SOS to any green thumbs out there

I have always found gardening to be therapeutic and it has given me great joy. However, after a major crisis with Mr Darcy's health I have not had been able to get back into it. Have other gardeners suffered from a similar hiatus and how have you recovered and got going again?

Darcy

PS have a spot that needs filling any recommendations for a 1m high cool climate white flower plant?

@Determined bees were not too much work, think less disease in our neck of the woods.

ha ha ha you made me smile @Determined

Yes my flowering bushes are ok and easy care @Former-Member, @Smc, @Appleblossom, @Bella1978, so he is not touching those

but he is thinking of changing the weed gardens in the front into lawn , maybe I can put some easy caring flowering bushes there instead

As long as the two of you can find a genuinely happy compromise. 🙂

@Shaz51 I was thinking you may need to watch for someone approaching your place with weed killer, a chainsaw and a trailer load of dead roses with a @Determined look on his face ....

Re: Self care by growing a garden

You know those funny stories that people used to send in to magazines before social media took over the role... this is one I remember from years ago.

The lady in question wanted a flowering hedge, so she got a whole lot of different coloured hibiscus cuttings from a friend, dug little holes and put them straight into the ground to take root.

A few days later she rings her friend to pass on the happy news that they were putting out new leaves and appeared to have taken.

Then a day later, they had a setback and started going droopy.

Careful watering followed, and a week later she reported that they seemed to be regrouping.

Then another setback... more TLC, and she's wondering what on earth is going wrong.

Then one day she happens to be watching out the window as her loving non-gardener hubby does the mowing. He mows right up to the first cutting, stops, pulls it out, mows over the spot and then carefully replaces the cutting before repeating with the next one along....
