Re: such a failure :(

@Former-Member. I did Medical Terminology years ago - as well as a Cert III in Administration. I love medical terminology. And it's a great field to work in & so many different sectors that you can work in.
Over the years I've worked in Psych, Dentistry, Podiatry, Aged Care etc.
So someone with your caring nature could make a great career in the medical setting.
And isn't it fascinating where many medical words come from & their true meaning

Re: such a failure :(

oh yeah its great. im looking at further my knowledge but not sure which field to go in, i like psych, nutrition, podiatry, massage therapy, and personal training just not sure which field to go down. @utopia being a receptionist wouldnt be that bad either esp working in the fields that i like as id be able to learn on the job as well 🙂

Re: such a failure :(

@Former-Member - that's the best bit about having medical terminology skills. It translates into many areas.
I fell into most of my jobs - except Psych - that one I chose. The jobs were advertised and I applied and got them.
And with many doctors open 7 days a week - especially in the cities - you can work some weekend hours while doing further studies.
I didn't start my medical terminology and Admin course until I was 26. So by that time I already had an idea that the health / caring sector was for me.
There are quite a few health fields that are gaining interest - nutrition, chiropractic, massage, etc.
What would be your ultimate 'if I could do anything' job.

Re: such a failure :(

I'm still trying to decide @Former-Member. Lol. At 46I keep saying when I ggrow up I'll know.
I absolutely loved working as Admin in Psych - but then I had a workplace incident that led to where I am today. So I can no longer work in that environment.
I'm in the process of looking for work again now that I'm doing heaps better.
I will find a job in a small practice. Single boss & not a triggering environment. Maybe physio chiro optometrist etc.

yeah my fears keep me frm doing alot of things too @utopia

Re: such a failure :(

@Former-Member.
I don't see them as my fears. I see it as setting boundaries & putting myself and my health first.
I can't be a good me - if I'm being triggered all the time or stressed or not feeling protected.
And if I can't be looking after myself first - then I can't be a good mum or daughter or sister or friend.
For me - it's very important that I have a job with a single boss. No hirachi of managers. That's where I got lost in the system with my last job. And that's why I wasn't protected from a dangerous patient.
You will find on this forum, that many of us - especially the Community Guides, Moderators & older members - that you can't look after others - if you are not looking after yourself first.
So that's my priority now. Me first. Then my son. Then others.

Re: such a failure :(

You will @Former-Member. It is all a learning process. Your therapist can take you through some techniques that will help. Keep working with them. Then your 30's are going to be brilliant!
Have you had a chance to head over to the Friday Night Feast thread. It's a great thread and a wonderful place to chat with others & not feel alone
