Moving forward (sexual abuse )

Moving forward (sexual abuse )

Hi fellow Sane people
Im really struggling with the disclosure of my sexual abuse and how to move forward.
Yes im safe and all the right steps have been taken etc but im still struggling to move forward
Im wondering what people have done snd strategies you've used in order to get through it?

Does it get easier over time?

Im very embarrassed and ashamed and scared by it and struggling so any help would be great.
It would be great to know if there are any other survivors on here and how you are now and how it affect the way you live

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

That is a beautiful drawing @Former-Member

People often feel comfort from animals and pets and wildlife. Partly its the connections we have with them and partly they bring us out of ourselves when we get a bit stuck. So that is why I made the decision to keep returning to nature .. in some way.

Triggers are tricky. You cant take total responsibility for other people's triggers. It matter that you have a social conscience though. With that and some creativity and sense of beauty, you have what it takes to be a fine human being. Nobody is perfect and that would be boring and fake anyway.

i know @Appleblossom but i cant help feeling responsible if it triggers someone else and then im powerless to help them

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

So that is where we do need to practise more subtle awareness of responsibilities ... ie primary, secondary tertiary triggers etc .. and the maturity of age ...

Sometimes sharing pain .. actually completely releases someone else from loneliness. Sometimes it reminds them.

these are only ever secondary triggers ... Grown ups do have the responsibility not to project that out ... but it is an area of spectrums and you are a younger member on the forum ... take care of you .. by not taking everyone's issues on board.

I have to go .. and do my work now ... but you are very encouraging and imaginative and loyal .. dont forget that. Bella

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

im really struggling i rang my suicide prevention clinician and they are going to ring back tomorrow morning to check in aswell. shes given me a few other techniques to work on and try, i can ring ATAPS which in run throught the program as much as i like to get through whenever i need it and if things get worse to get the hospital, and not to worry about anyything else jsut get there and get some more emergency help @Appleblossom @Faith-and-Hope

i know i shoudlnt take others things on board but i havent learnt that yet, i cant help but want to help people and if i cant do that it makes me feel worse

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

Ok so this has set me off the rails and it set it off all the time.
The person who abused more than once and did othr things to me is the father of my youngest sister. He often sends a card at her birthday, easter and christmas but at easter and xmas he often sends a card but writes just to then our names from his name.
This time however he wrote to me and said to my name then love from dad- his name.
Its making me feel very sick and bringing up a lot of memories and sensations and its disgusting me. I cant stand being in my own body. I feel really gross

i can see what was happening to me. i can feel it. the memories are really strong and i can see everything that was being done to me and its making me feel quite sick
