Moving forward (sexual abuse )

Moving forward (sexual abuse )

Hi fellow Sane people
Im really struggling with the disclosure of my sexual abuse and how to move forward.
Yes im safe and all the right steps have been taken etc but im still struggling to move forward
Im wondering what people have done snd strategies you've used in order to get through it?

Does it get easier over time?

Im very embarrassed and ashamed and scared by it and struggling so any help would be great.
It would be great to know if there are any other survivors on here and how you are now and how it affect the way you live

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

yeah, defiitely @Former-Member ... it was pretty close to a year after i started working with my psychologist that i finally trusted her enough to say stuff (written)... you'll know when you're ready. but it also does take a leap of faith... which we have to push ourselves a bit to do (i think).
here with you anyways!

@Former-Member

I hope you are coming up again from your downer.

I have been pressed for time generally and on the forum so I have not responded, but wanted to say how glad I am that you are still posting.

Your new name and picture are beautiful, maybe they are sign of you moving through much of the fear.

It is early times with your new therapist, but as @Faith-and-Hope said the sh and thoughts would be connected to the abuse.

With all your energy and creativity to draw from, trust in your own process, to bring you through the down times .

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )

We are here to be with you @Former-Member ..... it will pass but it will take time.

Do you want to talk about how you feel or do you want to tak about something else ?

I saw a dolphin at the river this morning. I haven't seen any for weeks but I know they have been around cos other people out walking have said so. You usually have to be in the right place at the right time to come across them, but it's still a bit random.

I'm sure they hate the speed boats. It must be awful for their sonar .....

This one was by itself, splashing around fishing in the shallows.

Getting in touch with nature is another way to manage the feelings @Former-Member I saw some lion cubs today and lots of birds.

You dont need to stay away from people when you are down. It takes the time that it takes. In reality people are in all manner of states of up and down throughout their lives.

Self respect is so important and you have been exploring issues.

thats great @Faith-and-Hope sounds so beautiful, when i went the south coast we could see dolphins from our porch. and we fed the lorikeets on the porch, they would land on us and take the seeds from out hand

@Appleblossom lion cubs are cute and there are so many sorts of birds. im afraid to be near people in case i trigger them or anything when im in a low mood
