~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

He's beautiful @MissGremlin

I bet you adore him and his cuddles

Does he like walks? Taali would like them but I can't take her due to surgery

Luckily she's small enough to get her exercise indoors playing with her toys

And eating her carrots 🥕

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Thankyou @Taali sweet ☺️.

He does like walks but I've not been able to both cos of my anxiety but also he's too strong on the lead.

Casper gets his exercise either inside or in my yard, he loves doing zoomies when we play. Casper loves carrots!

Action shots @YETI-Bear !

They bring us much needed companionship and many moments of joy 😊

Of course it's a two way street here. I share my food with tiny terror Taali.

Bad habit but then who really cares?

Be well buddy boy (gender?)

I'm glad about the carrots 🥕

Most people look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them about it

Well that's confirmed..

You like the number three you say? Any reason? i love the number 7, to me it means fullness of, totally complete, perfection. When i cook my food i always use the 7 timetable as waiting times. When i go psychotic it becomes rather obsessive for some reason.

The hard lesson choosing what to do became like a steel harness in the end. where i had a self trying one side, a self not trying at all, a self doing the opposite i want to do at other times. etc. So i stopped doing that and began to give myself space where i had not achieved my goals, rather than trying to achieve them feeling inadequate, no good, fed up with myself, or i had some fancy need to be someone i was not, after reading some magazine about someone i felt impressed with.

*

i learned to see, over time, this was a big part of my mental health issues, of course also caused by my mental health issues, but making life so much struggle with self about self. And who i ought to be or not to be.

*

The mirror told me the truth, i was me, and it was time i heeded myself not only in good times but also in bad times. Not blaming myself for the pain, even if blame is due, but rather resolving not to be like that again and see where that leads me rather than forcing my way.

*

Interestingly being on my own has been unbelievable helpful getting to the knitty gritty of my personal issues with myself. Acceptance, respect, love, goodwill, forgiveness, self-care are all FIRST PLACE getting anywhere living like this.

After that peace within about self began to grow the letting go and finding my true self underneath the noises of my own inner divisions. Mostly lies and half truths i believed about myself or others had projected on me.

*

So glad i woke up to those issues, for instead of striving with myself to be someone i'm not, i can finally begin to accept myself without having to deny, or reform myself elsewhere in self doing that. Sadly i've been so divided my life suffering a mood disorder, and trying so bloody hard not to be who i have turned out to be, yet why the hell do that living untrue yourself?

*

i lacked a lot of love and self respect and therefore insight my past struggles. Always trying to 'better' than i was, and not just to please others, but my own self judgements. However the change has been huge in me despite my physically life becoming much harder, and is very much easier to cope mentally now i have learned to accept myself as i am, and let go of the no good projected on me, and so instead of myself labelled like that, i hug myself a cuddle. No good only harms life i found, best not harm myself thinking that my self judgement

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

I like it because I have struggled with self doubt quite a lot lately @DownMoreThanUp

Even when I have accomplished something I doubt it is going to last.
