~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Hello @Blackcloud my sweet, things are still rough but I just got back from the shops a little while ago.

How are you going?

Hello @Cuddlebear my sweet, yesterday was so hard, I was an emotional wreck and cried the whole day. Today things still feel very heavy but I'm not as emotional. I had lots of snuggles with Casper yesterday and he kept giving me kisses but I think that's mainly cos he wanted to lick the tears from my face 😂. I went to the shops just before, not liking how busy they are getting now though.

How are you going beautiful?

Hectic day today @Cuddlebear

needed to buy small fan for hospital.

couple months ago when I was last there I felt very hot during the night. Possibility this time might end up hot and sweaty due to the infusion.

have spent afternoon with feet up and cats on my legs.

I need to have sleep study done at some stage, might have sleep apnea. Will involve another overnight stay at same private hospital as next week. Bit over hospital, infusion will be 5th medical procedure I’ve had within last 14mths, only one was day procedure. Other procedures this year have also been expensive.

differences of opinion regarding dosage of medication totally sucks. Can understand you wanting to have good amount of time between any changes. I think, at times, drs forget about impact decrease in dosage amount has on the body and nervous system.

im the opposite. I’m wanting to see psychiatrist for meds review/reassessment. All the good psychiatrists are not taking new patients and haven’t been for many, many months. Psychiatrist that does have appointment spots available I refuse to see again.

apart from the meds issue, how are you? How is everything else going?

@Cuddlebear why is it that the professionals don't always act professional and in our best interests?

I have my primary GP but when he wasn't available I saw another one at the practice and given he was bipolar like me, I thought he would be a great help. Instead he put me on another medication that made me feel worse and wouldn't give me medication for anxiety. I went back to my own GP and he told me to stop the medication the other vet had put me on and gave me a script for my anti anxiety meds.

My darling Bear, I wish things were easier for you. Is there anything on TV you like to watch, or do you have streaming services or DVDs available? I am going to be watching a couple of movies this evening while I am at home alone with no plans.

I'll be around on the forums while I watch Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders - my secret TV favourite. I love watching the girls dance.

@MissGremlin aww my friend, from what I'm hearing you seem to be doing so well managing these feelings by doing something to distract you, even if it's for a bit. going to the shops sounds great ❤️

I'm feeling a bit p!ssed off and upset right now. I didn't tag you on the post my apologies, but here is the post behind why.

@Blackcloud thankyou sweet, i am doing my best ☺️. Some moments get harder than others but that's when it's minute by minute ❤️.

Oh that sounds like a tough interaction to have. I know we all react differently when we are feeling distressed but it's never an excuse to take it out on someone that's there to offer support. A calming video and music sounds perfect to ground yourself. Sending you hugs beautiful ❤️

thankyou @MissGremlin my friend ❤️ you're right some moments do get harder than others but its good that even doing something small bit by bit that it could also help, doesn't have to be anything big 🙂

got any plans for tomorrow and next week?

@MissGremlin @Same I don’t have much plans either though the upcoming week is gonna be my last week of doing the IPS core training hehe. The course has been really good so far and I love the content that’s included in there!

And on Tuesday I might be going to an evening/early night event with a support worker but we’ll see about it when Monday comes around 😊
