~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@Appleblossom How are you? It’s taken me a day to actually be taken to your post. Keeps taking me elsewhere. I’ve been doing those things too that Blue Knot put up. Not helping me and I can see not doing much for you either. We’re here and we can support one another. It’s hard when the things that might help others don’t help us. There is hope as long as we keep paddling as you say. You’ve been someone who’s been an amazing forum family member. I’m glad I’ve been getting to know you.

The best support for me is knowing that my hardships served more than my torment, but that by surviving so long others find encouragement to keep up the fight for better my testimony. i hate depression, i hate what it does to those ho suffer from it. i reckon it is one of the most dehumanising conditions a person can be afflicted with. i also hate it that depressed people are so often put down by others, seen as defective or weak, while a long term depressed people are survivors. Strong, not weak at all!

i have not bought a camper outfit yet. i have been looking around and there are plenty for sale. i have to think about power, and how best generate that out in the bush. Solar is great during the day and i Summer time, but come Winter heating is very costly on energy. Also toilet, shower, water tanks, as well as storage for my personal belongings. And how to be easily movable. i'm still tossing up a camper car or and camper trailer with a bigger car to tow it. The advantage of a camper trailer and car is that it makes easier to move around without taking the whole 'house' along. The disadvantage is that it needs to be totally seal-able and capable of being securely locked, as well as stopped from being towed away when i'm not there.

It is still two weeks before i get my bank card, i did open an account, but it is a community bank, cheap, but slower than the big banks. i will have to sell some 'stored treasures ' to get enough liquid cash so i can buy when i want to.

We wanted to put the place on the market November onwards and fixed the place up in October. Not sure i will be ready to move out hopefully before November.

i have been very active this morning for my doing. i clean our kitchen, laundry and living area. Mopped the tile floor, we only have carpet in the bedrooms. i burned weeks worth of boxes and paper stuff. i sprayed the weeds growing wild on the drive way ,and i cooked 14 litre pan of food for my dogs. It was great feeling well enough to do so.

It took me just over 3 hours in one hit. And i only got nauseated afterwards, by then i was shaking all over. For it has been awhile since i have been able to be so active without getting unwell. My energy and will to get going is coming back - a very good sign - i'm going to need to get away from this place. So i can close this sad chapter in my life.

@MissGremlin how are you going, love? I hope youre doing ok today. Just been exploring the elements in Hermeticism. Was using ancient pore breathing as a technique to access greater balance with my elements. Its an old practice but says the skin respirates like the lungs and you can use it to calm the body as well as drawing all kinds of qualities to you that you wish. I think its just as good as mindfulness or even better. I can understand why its some peoples favorite breathwork technique. I've had some excellent results with it. Might do some more later! It only takes 10 minutes and it removes the tense, agitated and contracted feeling to one of spaciousness, openness and peace. Its a lovely practice I can easily fall back on to feel instantly calm and centred.
