~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

I watch dvd every evening which helps me. Being able to go to sleep quickly each night is something that avoids me unless I sleep on the couch every night @Cuddlebear. Regardless of time at night or early morning, nothing helps.

croquet match each Friday is my weekly highlight. Great game this morning against a team who have lots of humour.

sounds horrible having different medical people having different options/not agreeing (apologies if my guessing is off track). Hoping things improve quickly and outcome is positive/beneficial for you

Good evening @MissGremlin @Jynx @Flutterbug9 @REDLINEZ750 @Cuddlebear @heartathome @Chasingsunsets @Bunniekins @tyme @rav3n @Ru-bee and others. Happy Friday!

@MissGremlin thanks for the posts! I hope things improve for you!

@REDLINEZ750 great discussion posts!

Life has been quite stressful over the past month and will be until I move out of my current rental mid next month- December and into uni accommodation. My latest tool for helping me with my mental health recovery journey has been knitting kids jumpers for charity - just completed 1 in a week and am into my 2nd one using wool I’ve got in my stash. I’ve been doing these instead of knitting beanies - my usual stress/anxiety coping strategy- as I’ve been stressed with my upcoming move and associated carer issues. I’ve also come up with a new design to knit the jumpers to help me deal with knitting the same pattern which is great.

Other tools I plan to use in the next week to help with my self care and mental health recovery are:

- Journalling my thoughts on paper

- Listening to music via my iPhone and Apple music

- Crocheting granny squares

- Working on my cross stitch design

- Watching sport on tv such as the cricket and v8 Supercars

- Being part of the forums by connecting to others

- Reading an ebook for pleasure and distraction

- Using essential oils

Maybe other forum members have some other ideas? Feel free to list them if you like.

Take care!
