~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko I have nightmares every night which is incredibly exhausting and takes time to calm down after i wake up with the panic attacks. I had a thorough blood test last year and everything there’s was normal so nothing that could be affecting my sleep. I've been on a medication for about 5 weeks now which unfortunately isn't doing anything yet but we're still going up in dosage each week. It's been like this for a couple of years now but wasn't as bad previously. Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to get quality sleep again.

Thankyou @Taali sweet ❤️.

I'm just taking today very slowly and gently. Not getting enough sleep impacts everything.

@MissGremlin doctors tests arent always conclusive. I had thyroid issues and my thyroid tests came back normal. My other tests in years gone by came back normal but I was very ill.

Have been told by healers that thyroid tests have a wide band of being healthy.

So you can still fall within a healthy range even though you have debilitating thyroid symptoms.

I had to go elsewhere to heal myself. GP's are only basic level of care.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko if there was other symptoms then I'd probably seek further support around it but unfortunately mine is linked to CPTSD aswell as my other diagnoses.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@MissGremlin I've read nightmares are a way of releasing subconscious memory around trauma and the liver also releases adrenaline at night from previous trauma you have experienced tucked in liver cells. So the liver is effectively detoxing itself to get adrenaline out of your system at night which can make it hard to get a good nights sleep. Have heard in a healing community there are supps you can take for that to lower the risk of having nightmares but cant leave that here due to forum guidelines. Dont know how much luck you would have with that its hard to say. I started sleepwalking once after a trauma incident in a psych hospital. That had never happened to me before i never used to sleepwalk. I do understand. I no longer sleepwalk but can remember actually opening the window of my parents room when I got home from hospital pushing out the flywire and trying to get out the window, instead of going out the front door!
