~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

hi @MissGremlin I am sorry that you are still not able to tag everyone 💙 I know it is frustrating as you don't want to miss people out of your post. I am going to pass this on to the IT team as I don't know why some people can't be tagged yet. Thanks for letting us know @MissGremlin 💞

Hello @Tolly, you're very right there, I don't like knowing that I'm missing people as I don't want them to think that I don't care about them. Thankyou for passing it on. Hope you have a good day ❤️.

Hi @DownMoreThanUp

I just saw your post and wanted to check in 💜

I'm sorry to hear things were feeling so heavy yesterday. It sounds like there was a lot of sadness and anxiety around, while also recognising it felt different to that colder, more disconnected place you've experienced before.

I hope today will be a little gentler on you.

What's been helping you get through things lately?

@Nala2022 Thanks checking in. Appreciated.

My faith is really the force that is getting me through. i know that truth and love walk hand in hand and that if i want to come out the other end a stronger and more capable person i need to hold onto truthful love to survive.

@Jynx @Taali @Bunniekins @MissGremlin @heartathome @ENKELI @Shaz51 @tyme

i have been working very hard to learn to regulate my states without my wife. Although she has been wonderful over the years helping me do that her love, her turning her back on me, together with most of my family has made this top priority.

i have been awaiting the process for TMS treatments to begin. My GP hopes it might reduce the depressive state somewhat and hopefully will aid sleep for i have been chronically short for a very long time now.

i'm also awaiting an appointment with a psych in the City to discuss alternative medical treatments. i have been accepted as his patient it is about waiting till an appointment becomes available.

i still receive counselling as well to well. To learn to understand, as well as techniques to deal with my more intensive states.

Trying to stay physically in shape has also been a real challenge. i have lost a considerable amount of weight battling the nausea bouts. And although overall they have reduced a lot the last 3 months, they can still really make my life unbearable, and often at the most stressful times. So the nausea has complicating life a lot. Especially getting into Town can be a real challenge. For even prescription medication for the nausea can fail me, like it did yesterday and the nausea literally floored for hours to sick to move, soon after i came back from a trip into Town. (a 25 minute drive) Such are stark reminders that if that had happened a little earlier i would have been stuck in Town.

i do believe i'm learning to regulate my states much better than at first. It has been depressive state here i have always struggled worst and now do again. For i can become so detached from my own emotions in that state when i dip down that hole again. Such has been very frightening to have to go through on my own time and again the last months.

i do still get better days as well. But have been unable to do much during those times, mainly rest and try and snooze in my chair or catch extra sleep, but this has still been rather difficult even on medications. i have been doing art and write poems to help me process the experiences i have been through. However i have very little energy to do much more than a little walk through the garden or doing light chores left undone during the times i was too unwell to do so.

My life has been extremely challenging lately and it can be very hard to have reason to fight on at my states worst times.

Hi @MissGremlin, I've let them know (again) which member's you can't tag.

So sorry this is taking some time.

How are you feeling today? I just saw that you had a really rough day/night yesterday

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Thanks for taking the time to share all of that, I really hear how much you’ve been carrying lately @DownMoreThanUp

It sounds like you’re doing a lot of work to keep going even when things are really difficult, especially while waiting for treatments like TMS and continuing with counselling and other supports. I can also hear how challenging the physical symptoms have been on top of everything else, particularly the nausea and fatigue.

I’m really glad you’re still having some better days in amongst it all, even if they’re limited, and that you’ve been able to use things like art and writing to help you process what you’re going through.

It’s a lot to be managing on your own at times, and I hope you’re able to keep leaning on the supports you do have while you wait for the next steps in treatment.
