~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Hello lovely!! I am responding to the following message:

@AuntGlow Great to see you around again and to hear you are doing better.

@PeppyPatti @Jynx @Cuddlebear @Mustang67

We see each other 2-3 times a week depending our my, our daughter's and her state of being. We try to see each other twice a week for 3-4 hours and then also spend some time with her and our Down Syndrome daughter. For she had been missing me and i her. (However tensions between me and my wife she cannot cope with so we make sure conversations are light and as inclusive as possible. For our girl will just zone out and sip her drink while we chat for a hour, that is how she is, but of course we want her to interact and share.

Which she loves doing with two or three words.😁

We saw each other today and had a very touchy subject to discuss. Which brought on anxiety in both of us for us discussing how to best proceed the couple counselling we are planning to do on top of our individual counselling to see if we can hurry the getting the back together again phase a little. Hopefully that will work.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. It sounds like you're doing all that you can to reconnect at her pace, and at a guess, the effort you are both putting in to address hard topics and remain connected is a reflection of your love and care for one another? @DownMoreThanUp

Do you have any updates around your couples counselling? I understand how anxiety-inducing these conversations can be. Even so, you're taking all the right steps to learn more about yourselves, your needs, and how to be there for one another. 🥰

@AuntGlow We had our first session on Friday. Mainly our story individually together if you know what i mean. He seemed professional. Asked the right kind of questions. We both felt good about it. Next week again. He did give my wife exercises and questionnaire to help finding herself back when feeling intimidated or outwit. When my wife is asked a personal question she will automatically panic and not know how to respond. This has been a real issue, which has been amplified by past psychotic episodes, but she developed at home living with love conditional parents. We had already discovered this together before we split up but not what to best do about it. My wife responded the opposite way i did to my parents, yet the same outcome for us both, suppression of self, so we would be accepted. The wounds us both sustained doing this to keep us my illness afloat has been enormous.

@Jynx @Flutterbug9 @Bunniekins @PeppyPatti

Today it was our Daughter's birthday so we saw each other today as well. She ran outside when she heard my car. Calling out it was her birthday. She was so excited. we love seeing her like that. Precious sights. However i was rather unwell today, depression and nausea wise, not so nice, so my wife and me just said hallo but did not spend time together as such.
