~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@Glisten the guy grew up on small acreage with 2 cows and had to hand milk before school. I swapped my experiences on a big dairy farm where we milked 130-180 cows with Herringbone dairy. It was in the early 1970s. I am not sure what the technology is like now. I did it for holidays for 4 years ij my early teens. I credit it with life saving grounding me in the facts and stuff of life. Mostly I lived in inner city, but working as a Legacy kid on the farm taught me heaps.

@Jynx life is pretty average in my world. Struggling with my health and I'm still trying to find a GP to call my own.

Otherwise all is well 🥰

@ENKELI the struggle is SO REAL... the one GP I've found that I really like, is about $100 more expensive than the one I've been seeing a bit longer (One who has, upon occasion, made me feel stigmatised and not so good... but I guess she gets the job done). IDK if a website like Ask Izzy would be of any help?

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Jynx I tried Ask Izzy and it only came up with street doctor for the homeless and transients. There are several medical practices in my area but most of the decent GPs are not taking on new patients. The one I saw back in February was new to Australia and didn't have the rights to prescribe certain medications, which is what I needed. He also argued with me about having bipolar 2, he tried to tell me I had bipolar 1. The second one was a total cow who was rude and disrespectful from the moment I stepped into her office. There are a few other doctors at the practice so I am going to try and see one of them.

$100, wow that's ridiculous. My original GP charged $80 before the Medicare rebate, this new practice is bulk billed which is an advantage. Just have to find a decent doctor!

And how rude to be stigmatised, doctors should know better!

@Misty7 Just you let you know that if you are responding to a person's message, you need to press the @ button and a drop-down list of people should appear. If the person you are responding to is there, you need to select their name. If their name is not there, start to type their username and their name should appear to select. That way you know the person will be notified of your message.

Enjoy your day 🙂

@ENKELI now that I have pulled the diamond art canvas out and looked at the diamond dots, it's not going to be as puffy as the picture makes it look. But yes, I will definitely share a picture of it, once it is finished.

Here is the picture from AliExpress.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Ugh frustrating @ENKELI - on all counts. Lack of specialisations, having someone argue and thus dismiss your experiences, being disrespected... you'd think people in the helping professions would want to, I dunno, help people.

I'm sorry it's been so rough for you hun. They may be rare but I know that decent GPs are out there. I hope that you find one soon 🤞

Snowed Under?

Refining our truth is a sevenfold flame,
Not lightning’s flashes nor sudden claim.
What is purely good is forged through patient fire,
For our love must be freed from old desire.
Till we walk in true love’s liberating control,
Finding the purpose of true self in love's whole.
