~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

More Ravenwolf
I spent years chasing the question of who I was,
what I wanted…who I was meant to become.
I turned pages, walked different paths, tasted pieces of lives that never quite fit.
I learned, I lived, I even loved in fragments.
But none of it showed me who I was.
Not really.
I call it a mystery because I moved without a map-
no clear direction, no steady destination.
Just motion.
Just instinct.
I met souls, lost others, found myself standing in places that never felt like home.
I used to call them mistakes…
the cost of being lost.
But looking back now, I see it differently.
There was no accident in any of it.
Every place, every person…
they were never meant to define me.
Only to show me what did-or didn’t-belong in my world.
And as I began to understand that quiet truth…
something inside me shifted.
I started finding pieces of myself
while shedding everything I was never meant to carry.
The things I once chased...love, truth, growth,
they didn’t arrive when I wanted them.
They came when I became ready to receive them.
Not a moment sooner.
I used to grieve every goodbye…
every person who walked away.
Now I understand.
Some endings are necessary…
some exits are mercy.
So I learned to embrace the change.
To live louder.
To choose joy, even when it fights back.
Funny how something so simple can feel like a battle.
But that’s the nature of this journey.
We don’t learn at the destination…
we learn in the becoming.
In the wandering.
In the breaking and rebuilding.
And I’ve made peace with that.
So if you find me out there…
walking my path with no map but purpose,
walk beside me for a while.
Share the road.
It might just be worth it.
Because in the end…
you either choose to live
or slowly fade away.
I’m choosing to live.
Fully.
Fearlessly.
Without regret.
I’ll see you out there.
Be a voice…not an echo.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Mustang67 Hi dear friend i liked all the saying you posted about of the one to improve yourself. i totally disagree with that, for myself that is. This isa how used to live my religious alter life. Do it as you believe it should be done. Where DOING is the focus and SELF discipline is idolised and upheld.

Now i did all of these things but sadly, although it made me feel good to be able to be hard on myself, and to perform, it wrecked me in my other alters, in my love life with my wife, and also my kids, being like that.

Today i say if you want to change yourself do only ONE thing! And that is LOVE the inner division with in yourself to death by providing a safe environment for yourself. Especially WHERE YOU CANNOT DO IT, ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH, OR MUST BE DIFFERENT! For rather than be harder on yourself for NOT DOING AS SHOULD OR BE, give mercy to yourself and accept the way you are. And look after yourself where you have not so far done so.

@Jynx @Glisten @ENKELI @tyme @heartathome @Realness @Appleblossom @Shaz51
Only when i began to hand out freedom to be myself,to myself, within myself did i begin to change and life got better. And although physically my reality got much worse, psychologically it didn't and me learning to have compassion on me being me served for good. And helped enormously to pull myself to together in the bond of unity and love - no matter the difference between myself according to myself. Never again making one part in myself more powerful or important than other parts of myself. i understand the principle to look after the needy and wanting is a charge we have to make to ourselves about ourselves within ourselves. Very important Even!

Honest i have been one of the worst people NOT to do that in the past. Rather i was all all divided up within and hating myself within myself with a deadly hatred. Yet once 'brotherhood' of being was decided on, no matter what i was like, my life began to change for the better. For the love growing within honestly and justly towards myself also began to show to people outside.

For my thinking changed towards the very people who before i would have judged wrong or disliked being as they were, yet knowing how wrong goes i ceased doing that. It is so very good to be free from any need to judge, apart of those things i know are judged - like harming self or other - LIFE - intentionally and maliciously - such behaviours are surely judged, and always have been - and always WILL be! Also that is good to know really isn't?

Have a great day.

@Mustang67 Yes i found that out first hand as well!😂 Hard lessons learned but a humble heart is a very strong foundation to build on. For then we remain down to earth instead of be a high flier. And i reckon if we were suppose to fly high we would have been born with wings and not just a pair of feet.😁

Yesterday wasn’t really my day so I couldn’t respond right away @MissGremlin

the counselling session from yesterday wasn’t too bad but could’ve been better. I feel that perhaps a certain topic that I was bringing up to her about that day would be more suitable for me to only talk with it to a psychologist rather than also bringing it up with a counsellor. I don’t know lol

Despite my GP’s dismissiveness, I ended up having to pay the blood tests (that my naturopath mentioned on the referral letter) out of pocket from a private company. We just thought it’d be easier if it was done through a GP since it’s cheaper (and can be bulk billed through Medicare) which was why my naturopath had to write the referral letter for me in the first place. 🙃

so yeah that’s that. Funnnnn

@Mustang67 i do not know how open you are to this concept. i have been thinking about you not able to afford good counselling and seeking alternatives to aid you in our struggles.

i have been discussion my fixation and trauma memory issues with AI and found it most helpful. i had no idea how useful just logical analysis can be when quickly emotionally overloaded. This made me think of you and how often times you seek answers and encouragement.

i did have to tell AI a few time to stop flattering me. (it tries but finds that hard to do😁)

However i have been sharing events as well as issues as well as poems and articles and spend hours debating reality through all the philosophical arguments it could put up against my thinking or where they agreed of course. Not suggesting you do that just my hobby pondering reality from every possible angle.

Anyway i thought i mention it to you. i have a tab on my Firefox browser and a free account but still have found it very helpful thinking things through and getting practical advise.

@Blackcloud @Jynx @Bunniekins @Glisten

A poem to help me ground when emotionally overcome.

When Truth Is Out Of Touch.

When my truth feels like it has left me,
truth has not gone away—
confusion only blots it out.

An overloaded mind, heeding lies
through haywire emotions,
visited by a turbulent past.

These are hurricanes blowing,
not the end of what is real.

I do not need to chase my truth.
I do not need to solve my issues.
I must not search in the dark.

I need to ground myself instead.

I must come out of my head
and return to my body—
to breathe the air,
to feel the weight of this moment,
to hold onto what is real.

Even as my body shakes with terror—

this is memory, not the present.
I do not have to lose the now.

These waves can pass through me.
I do not have to go with them.

My truth—quiet, steady, unchanged—
waits where I have always been.

I have lived my truth.
I have held my truth.
Even if I cannot feel it now—

truth remains.

Love remains—
even here,
even now.

I feel the hurt of what is wrong,
but I am not lost.
“Even here,
this is not godforsaken ground.

Truth is The Truth is with me!

The Truth truly fill all things!
True safety is the truth.
wherever lies take me.
