SUNDAY FUNDAY

SUNDAY FUNDAY

It's Friday, which means it's the weekend! What are you up to? Whatever you're doing, share it with us on Sunday Funday.

I'm hoping we can get a little creative and share photos, poems, pictures, or even just a post - whatever you like! Anything that you feel represents how you spent your time over the weekend, and then on Sunday share it with us here.

I'll aim to take photos of my weekend activities and share them with you.

Looking forward to 'seeing' and hearing about your weekend.

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi Everyone,

A change of shift and Frog is back in the pond 🙂

A real mixture of experiences, thoughts and moods this Sunday. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time @BlueBay. Hope the week ahead brings some relief for you.

I enjoyed a walk with my dogs in the sunshine before coming into work today. My Kelpie is living with an anxiety disorder - he is scared of men, especially bald men. If we meet a man on our walks, he freezes, shakes like mad, and then wants to bolt. It's all I can do to hold him and reassure him. He was a rescue dog and it will take time for him to trust men again. He is teaching me alot about patience and enjoying the simple things in life.

Best wishes,

Frog

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi @Kurra

Just read your post now. Thank you for the uplifting post and support - it made my day. My daughter is up and down - unfortunately she lost her job but didn't waste any time finding other work which is good. But she is still with the partner who uses her. She has been diagnosed with MI and tends to blame herself for anything wrong he does. We try and subtlety get through to her that it isn't her fault that she is treated bad. Hopefully one day the penny will drop and she will have the self esteem to leave. Until then there is always a risk she will do it again. One day at a time.

You sound so well!!! You are a real inspiration to me and others. It was good to read that you are out and enjoying life to the full! You so deserve happiness. Please do keep me in your prayers and thoughts as it helps more than you know. Sending warm hugs xxxxx💕

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi @Shaz51 - sounds like you are having another relaxing weekend with family. It's good that you are so close to yours - it must be a wonderful support to help you heal 😊

@Former-Member - Heartwarming to read of your compassion for your rescue Kelpie. He is lucky to have you. I can't understand how anyone can mistreat a pet, they are part of the family but so many are neglected. As can be some people. So sad. Does your Kelpie need to be with you most of the time because of his anxiety? Poor darling.

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi @Former-Member

I have been thinking of you and your family.

How old is your daughter?

How have you been going?

I've been doing really well. I have started volunteer work and I have a trail run for a job this coming Thursday or Friday. Which I am bit nervous about which is normal and just have to be confident on the day and that really should not hold me back. My volunteer work is at a local animal park- I am park volunteer so I help the customers around park and try to ensure they have fun day. I think it will be good for me because there is a lot of interaction.

Wishing you all the best

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hello @Former-Member

Thank you my lovely. Sooo wonderful to read about your volunteer work!! I always believed this would for be good for you - the interaction will help increase your confidence and ease the loneliness. It will give you a focus and more purpose (what we all need). Such a positive step my friend!! Keep going - please remember if there are bad days to push through and not give up no matter what. This type of work is down your alley - you will be good at it and others will appreciate you. Let me know how it all goes 😀:ok_hand:.

My daughter is up and down. She lost her job but has secured more work. She is still immature and learning very slowly to our dismay. But any small progress we would be happy with for her sake. She is still with the abusive boyfriend unfortunately - something she will have to work out for herself. And we will be there for her to pick up the pieces as she does. Not much progress but she is alive thank goodness.

All her psychiatrists, psychologists, the mental health team and staff at the psychiatric ward she was committed to in the recent past, said to myself and husband that most family, friends etc - "do not stand by those who attempt and have mental health issues/problems as our daughter has - that most are alone in those psychiatric wards as people give up on them!!". That is so sad. But unfortunately so true. I won't give up on her.

Thankyou for thinking of me and for your friendship - it means much. Am here for you too. Look forward to reading all about your progress :ok_hand:❤️ xxxxx

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi @Former-Member

I am astounded about what the professionals treating your daughter said what I think you are saying is

"Don't be kind to your daughter - this is enabling her - most people like her end up in psychiatric hospitals alone because people give up on them"

It seems really strange except I have been through something similar - my son was an extremely troubled child - I sought help from everyone - my parents helped for a while but gave up and I was told to keep away - I upset everyone too much - and all these years later I think what they were saying is

"This is the way to treat troubled people - we don't help them and after a while they go away and leave us alone" and "If we drive her away it will give her the idea to get rid of that juvenile delinquent and we will all have peace"

Luckily I did not abandon my son - and he died from suicide when he was a teenager - although there were times when I needed time out from him I never abandoned him - the last conversation I had with him he told me that I did go away now and again but I always came back -

Before they died my parents both told me - separately - that they had gone about things the wrong way - and that it was a terrible thing and I believe that they truly suffered. On my part I don't believe I did anything wrong

My reason for telling you this is that you must not abandon your daughter when she is mentally ill - and I think it is appalling that the professionals have told you to ignore your daughter

I am actually sure you won't - it's really terrible - I am so sorry that you are going through all of this

I can't understand how it would help to ignore your daughter - and how terrrible it is that people are abandoned to the system when they are ill

Dear @Former-Member

I am so sorry to read this - I don't know if I have the story right - but it is a terrible thing to be abandoned - I was abandonded and now how terrible all of this - somehow I survived it

I hope I have all of this wrong - I have written too much - but this is so upsetting

I hope things improve - I so do -

My thoughts are with you

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hello dear @Decadian

I am so sorry for the loss of your son - and in the most tragic way. I truly empathise. There is no words for it really as the pain is indescribable. I find your courage so admirable.

The medical staff did not mean that we should ignore our daughter. On the contrary they admired us for sticking by her - they were just surprised because they stated that they witness daily that most people whom have been committed in the emergency psych ward where my daughter was, being abandoned. They feel sad that most of them have no visitors and go through it totally alone. People move away from them. So sad.

I am sorry to have upset you with any misunderstanding. I will never abandon my daughter. I admire you for the way you never gave up on your son. I do understand that you needed reprieve - that was wise as otherwise it can get to much. A bit of a break recharges the batteries to be able to carry on the support. I do this myself as daughter usually is with her boyfriend over the weekend (to my dismay as he is not good for her and the cause of her suicide attempt).

The latest with my daughter is she is becoming lazy. She can't hold a job - I thought she had another but "was too tired" to turn up for it. So presently I am disappointed in her and feel a bit down about her future. The whoLe situation is so terribly tragic and if anyone told me several years ago that this would be happening I would not of believed them. My daughter was a wonderful child and my whole life - that just can't happen!! But the nightmare did.

We have done everything for her and have pushed ourselves to the limit. We can't push anymore. Our daughter needs to help herself and doesn't seem to be trying.

How are you now @Decadian? How is life treating you? xxx💕
