Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

I found PP just as good as Grey's. I know it wasn't as popular but I loved it! If you can get your hands on PP there's a stack of distraction hours you won't have to worry about haha 😉

I don't watch TV shows and get my screen time through netflix or play store so I don't know 2 broke girls but I've heard it's funny.

I've just taken night meds and might fall asleep soon (i hope so!).

If I do, I hope you have a peaceful night. Thank you for the chat - I've enjoyed the distraction too

Hello @Former-Member

You are very brave to attempt to pose a very confidential question. That actually takes much courage.

I want to advise you not to write anything on the site. You are best talking to someone who is qualified and governed by laws and regulations re confidentiality.

Hi @Former-Member

I second the above. I learned that the hard way. But speak to someone you can trust and whom is qualified to advise you appropriately. Wishing you all the best care 🙂

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

@Former-Member - i had a look at your thread and tried to write a coherent response and struggled (foggy brain now). My short answer is that I don't think it's at all unreasonable to seek support from your friend and feel not great if it's not there. Hoping others might have something to add that's more helpful.

Sleep well 🙂

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

Dear Scared01, I have been following this thread and feel I really need to let you know a few things. First, I sympathise with you and understand what you are going through. I am currently in psychoanalysis, and disclosing things from my past is really difficult. First I have to get up the courage to do it, then the actual telling always feels terrible. But talking it all through with my analyst helps me cope with trauma with the past and gives me permission to be the person I am. It really helps. One thing I must say is be careful who you disclose to. A friend or family member might not have the expetise to support you through it. I would talk to a trained professional - counsellor, psychologist, psychiatrist whatever. These people have the training to help you through the process of disclosure, and help you deal with your feelings afterwards.

\As forthe self harm, we all know it is way of expressing intense emotions and feelings which we are not dealing with. I suspect that when you have managed to disclose your past the self harm will lessen or even disappear. Whatever you do, please, please don't feel ashamed or guilty about your situation.

You have a mental issue to resolve, and that is just as painful and upsetting as a physical issue.

Do, please talk to someoe professional who can help. I have been through depression, self-disclosure and self harm, and with the help of a wonderful doctor I have managed to get through all these and live a full and challenging life. I've been there. You can do it.

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

hi @Ellu

i havent disclosed much to family or friends only that i was having trouble with mental illness though i did specify the types and what they ptsd was well one one them anyway just not this very recent disclosure. no one knows except the people that have read my thread on here.

yes dealing with my mental illnesses are very difficult and with very minimal support it does make it hard and i often feel very alone and isolated and ashamed for having these conditions. i also often blame myself for having these conditions and most of the time i think i deserve these conditions.
