All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

We are in the fortunate position of being an island state @Former-Member so will be able to contain it much better with the ever increasing measures being put in place. It is certainly more concerning for those of you on the mainland and especially with those who are already ill, older or with weakened immune systems. My even bigger concern is the personal aspects when families need to stay home and what that will do to the violence levels within families. I suspect schools will eventually close as well and that will not be good for the kids either ...so much more to worry about than just the virus

Re: All Things Sport...

Exactly @Zoe7 .. I'm really afraid about it all. I think NSW schools and childcare centres will close here after Tues. Maybe TAS too?

Re: All Things Sport...

There is certainly talk in Vic and NSW about schools being closed this week @Former-Member - Tassie may go a bit longer because of the lesser cases but anything can happen presently - it really is a day to day prospect. ...holidays here in 3 weeks so they may even try to stay open until then but who knows.

@Zoe7 @Former-Member @MDT

Wow I am so STRESSED right now about everything!!!!!!!

So many implications from this virus. As you said @Zoe7 being where we are hopefully we won't need lockdowns. But what is going on in Italy is extremely frightening. Is that our future??????

Work is so busy right now. Picking up lots of extra hours (which is one good thing out of this) but I am so tired. It is like Xmas but most customers are crabby and abusing us. We did not create this problem so don't take your frustrations out on us who are just doing our job in very hard circumstances. That is why I have not been on the forum much. I am just so tired mentally and physically that I have no energy for conversation. Hope I don't have to go into isolation. Mentally it would be nice and quiet considering how work is but financially it will cause me to be homeless being that I am casual. My sister is also casual and a single mum with three kids. Lack of money is more of a concern for us two rather than getting the virus itself at the moment. I do worry about everyone on the mainland. Please keep safe everyone.

I am still dumbfounded that the world is in this predicament. It is just unbelievable. And how quick things have changed. I am scared and worried and stressed about everything. And eating way more junk food because of my stress levels which is not helping my weight problem.

Love and blessings to everyone out there. Please stay safe and hygenic

Re: All Things Sport...

I have been absolutely appalled by the things I have heard people in shops and services have had to endure from nasty, selfish and angry people @Scarecrowe Humanity and kindness has gone out the window and people are being so selfish and abusive. It also has made it worse for people with larger families - they are having to make several trips a day to the supermarket with the limits on products. I know of one family of 11 that was not allowed to buy enough milk to get them through a day and that is because of the selfish and stupid people out there that have quite honestly only thought about themselves. Then there are people like you who rely on an income week to week - no amount of government assistance is going to be able to completely help ....what we need is kindness, care and concern for each other and sharing of all resources - the vulnerable in our society need to be taken care of first

Re: All Things Sport...

Well @Zoe7 from what I understand which I am not sure I have it correct but people who are on Newstart and benefits are going to get money. I am not going to get any money from the government because I am not on the system. I could be wrong as my brain has trouble undestanding things like this.

But fingers crossed if I have to isolate I will be able to take some of my super which is fine by me. But as I said unless I come into contact with someone who has it (and working in retail that is a possibility) I can't see lockdowns happening in Tassie. But we never know.

And agreed humanity has gone out the window. I would hate to see how they would react if there really was a food shortage. There is no shortage, the consumers have caused this problem and us retailers are copping it like it is our fault...what the???

I envy Toby and Cat right now.................they have no idea what is going on!!!!!!

Hiya @Shaz51

Yes people like you are really doing it tough. I am just worried financially for everyone out there. And people in the tourist and aviation industries.....wow.

It is sickening. And what are the implications of this once the virus spread has stopped. How different will life be for everyone then. I can't see it ever being the way it was before this started.

Please take care of yourself @Shaz51 and Mr Shaz as well. I wish I could snap my fingers and fix everyone's problems.

Re: All Things Sport...

It was announced this morning that those who are casual and cannot work will not need to wait to apply for and get government payments @Scarecrowe so you may be able to access newstart straight away. They have also reduced the restrictions on accessing super - up to 10,000 this year and the same next year - both those measures should help a little in the short term but longer term society will see the impacts for decades to come - especially with the reduction in super longer term.

I totally agree - consumers (and the media) have caused the problem and it is disgusting what is happening. - grrr!!!
