@heartathome I should clarify the psychologist wasn't *my* treating psychologist, lol. They were a close family friend. 😉 I don't think if they were my own psych I would know about their anxiety or shopping habits lol. Realised re-reading that it could come across weird if people thought I meant I knew that about a psych I saw. 😅
@Historylover I too am a very values-driven person, making value-alignment very important in deep friendships. I see a few different types of levels of friendship for me. There are my social friend/acquaintances - people I don't feel connected to, but see frequently (not 1:1 generally though). There are the "obligatory" friends - which can include extended family or partners of other friends, etc. Then I have my "deep friends" - the rare ones I click with who generally have similar values to myself. And there are some "I'd like to know them better" friends who are in the social friend/acquaintance category but I'd like to move into the deeper friendship category if only they had the interest/time also.
I would be very interested to know your values if you feel safe to share. 😊
Like @heartathome I too can be known to ask a lot of questions 😋 but it's friendly and well-meaning, and totally OK if you don't want to answer them!
My strongest personal values are probably: honesty, authenticity, trust, and respect. And for me also perhaps "caring" - but that is something that I just feel naturally, but I think it's a "value" also? It is something I appreciate in deep friends, and I don't think I would feel they are a really deep friend if I didn't believe they cared how I am... 🤔
@Former-Member @ENKELI @Cuddlebear @Glisten @Oaktree I too love chocolate. 😄 I have enjoyed reading about how quickly chocolate vanishes around you haha.
I hear you on the comfort eating @Former-Member - I have noticed the past month how much I want to eat to emotionally comfort myself (but have not been due to excellent focus on losing weight).
@Historylover Maybe the reason you mentioned your time in the boarding house was for me. 🙂. I have sometimes wondered what facilities there are for people who cannot live independently due to mental illness, but are not severe enough to need hospitalisation. I knew there were supported-living places for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, but was not sure about mental health disability. If it weren't for one of my parents letting me move back in with them (turns out to be a win-win situation for them too), I would probably have to find some type of affordable assisted-living place or else pay for home-visits from regular support workers during periods of less-coping.
