Sunday Coffee and Chat -- 26th October 2025

Hello @heartathome. I don't know where you are, but we had stormy weather in Melbourne yesterday too. It poured! Absolutely came down in sheets. It was lovely and so refreshing. And now another week ahead. I wonder how we'll all fill it. I'm doing a little bit of study on Sociology at the moment. It will keep me busy for a while. I'm just listening to YT videos and building up some knowledge to reinforce my own. I enjoy it. I hope the bus trip was not too eventful.

Good morning @Historylover I'm on the north coast of NSW. We didn't even get a storm. A bit of thunder and a spit of rain! I love a good storm when I'm safe inside! It's supposed to be sunny and 34 degrees here today. You 'guys' are copping bad weather at the moment but sounds like you need some of it. Sociology sounds interesting. Are you studying for your own interest? What are YT videos? The bus trip didn't happen yesterday so I will try again today. I hope you have a good day Historylover! 🤗

Oh, you're way up there, @heartathome! I love a good storm when I'm safe inside too—so refreshing and cleansing. Sociology is interesting, and I am just doing it for fun. It just formalizes and extends observations we all make in our everyday lives.

Sorry about the acronym. YT is You Tube videos. So many learned folks giving lectures there.

Discovered that I eat like a person with diabetes.

With the exception that if someone gives me a box of Rocky Road, I ate the entire box in one day. It’s not my fault. I’m genetically predisposed to eating chocolate 😇

No way @Historylover 13 degrees! That's worse than winter! Bloody cold for spring!

Sociology would be fascinating to study. I studied quite a bit around mental health a number of years ago and thought I could work after that but unfortunately, I never thought I was good enough even though I got a distinction in counselling! That was/is a sad way to live! Living with my anxiety drives me quite 'mad' but I don't want to go on any addictive medication, so I deal with it without meds atm. Doing the courses was never a waste though! I've learnt a lot through those courses! Can you imagine all the study and therapy, and I couldn't catch a bloody bus! It goes to show it's not all about what someone knows if they don't put it into practice or/and are struggling with mental health!

I'm trying to be more kind to myself these days. My inner voice has never been very nice! It's put a lot of pressure on me in the past.

I DID catch the bus this morning and had a coffee by the beach! 😎 I'm quite proud of myself for doing that! I've got no idea what I'm going to do for the rest of the day. Resting is impossible for me unless I'm asleep! I can't keep still for very long. A two-hour meeting I attend by Zoom is definitely the limit! I think I'll probably stay on the forum for the rest of the day. What are you up to?

@heartathome well done! That is super great of you - I am proud of you, and I hope you are of yourself too. 😍

I know/knew a practicing counsellor psychologist who did not recognise they had anxiety which drove their obsessive online shopping behaviours. You are definitely right about "knowing" (and even being able to help others!) not always translating to being able to recognise or treat things within ourselves. Often we do need some help, support & perspective from others. 😊

Hope those with difficult weather are holding up well. I've had OK weather where I am; a bit of rain yesterday but not too much, nor any storms.
