Awww I’m glad to have met you on here too @AlwaysMyself yeah, having SI is pretty much how I respond/think of whenever my life hasn’t gone the way I wanted it to be. I’m glad to be alive even through all of these tough times and feelings surrounding it all, but I do admit it’s hard when enduring these things, but I’m pushing through I think or at least try to be 🥲

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 25th October 2025

You know what I hate about posting/sharing all sorts of things I have related to my mental health in the other mental health platforms? (Specifically the negative thoughts & such issues that I share)

Its the fact that you tend to get at least one user telling you to please talk to someone about your concerns or to please talk to any relevant service they will recommend you reach out to. so for me in response, it’s like….well that’s why I wanted to share my thoughts and concerns in those platforms and yet I get suggestions from at least one other user there to reach out to a relevant person or service…. Its so f##king annoying!!! I don’t get it all the time but I do get it like quite occasionally arghhhh

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 25th October 2025

Yeah, I see that alot @Blackcloud. I think perhaps I havent had much of that happen to me because I upfront posted my history of supports I have tried and current supports, so they know what wont be helpful. But even when ive seen people do that, ive still seen some people respond with the places they have already tried.

I know the mods have to post the crisis lines if someone is sounding like they are having crisis level (or could escalate) thoughts. I accept that as just their job to post it.

AuntGlow, Rav3n and Jynx have been really good in chatting to me about my chronic SI. They take into account what I have already said and explore ideas with the safety that I can say if I dont think it fits for me. 🥰

(Other members have been too! But just saying in terms of peer support users)

You are always welcome to tag me in a chat about SI and let me know even if just talking about how much it sucks to feel that way is -- as long as it helps you (feel heard, vent, etc) I'm down for it

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 25th October 2025

@AlwaysMyself oh yeah, but I meant more like when someone tells you to please talk to someone about the negative thoughts you have -- and why I find that so annoying is because I don't have anyone in my life that I can rely on when it comes to sharing all of the concerns I have, apart from my counsellor but I only have sessions with her once a month due to the costs of the sessions. I also have a peer worker I talk to as well, that's pretty much it -- and both are autistic just like me and they both "get it" which makes my sessions with them even more valuable ❤️

yesterday I was posting on another mental health forum with a fixed-mindset type thought I have and another user there had the audacity to tell me to please talk to someone about my thoughts.... that's one example that I was referring to when I was writing that above post. Those mental health forums are mainly for youths so I guess that's part of why haha 😆

Nothing against anyone in this forums, I feel more belonged here than I do anywhere else ❤️

Oh yesss for sure! Thank you for letting me know that I'm welcome to tag you on it whenever I bring up about SI, I very much appreciate it. 😊🫂

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 25th October 2025

I totally hear you on the cost of counselling sessions!! I started again a few months ago (after 10 years not) because of how persistent my thought were and just needing to be able to talk openly about them - even more than the guidelines here allow. But I know if I take time off work I wont be able to afford it weekly anymore.

I am lucky that I have a few friends and my mother who are safe to talk to about it. But I *dont want* to expose them to those thoughts and any worry they may have in relation to it. But they are great that they are open to being aware that I have thoughts like that and that I'm allowed to ask if they are available to meet up (and they are also ok to say no when theyre busy/tired/sick/whatever) if I need in-person distraction. I try not to reach out though unless its a really bad night, so maybe I only need to ask them once or twice a year.

@Blackcloud To be honest this is the forum I use. Everywhere else is not as good as the forums here. Even when I list all the things I’ve tried people suggest the things I’ve tried. Most of the times I just need to talk about how I’m feeling with people who understand. What I also like about here is that I can help other people too. I really like that a lot.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 25th October 2025

Oh @Oaktree may want to say hello @ipanda

I think she may know about that. I did my cert 3 in home and community care and community work.

@Shaz51 @Cuddlebear @AlwaysMyself @Blackcloud @TAB

I feel a bit embarrassed to write this

but truthfully peer work is only something I could have coped with at my age of 58.

I think I did first aid for people using illegal substances ( maybe people diagnosed with mental ill as well. ) it was a long time ago and went through this new 🆕 place at the time called Next Step
