First unit was Power, Stratification and leadership. @GezzaP @DownMoreThanUp

yes, the polarisation dynamics of America politics is crazy and sad, for them, and the world.

I was left leaning most of my life ( 60 years) but unthinking overbearing Democrats alienated my son, and their rigidity caused massive problems for him, so I am done as an old lefty. They were intelligent enough, but not prepared to reflect on their opinions or care. I will still put in the effort into unpacking a range of ethical and social issues, but it has been one hell of a journey in the last ten years, for me as loving mother of my decent son, and knowing his challenges.  Patiently tried explaining Liberal and Labour politics, weary sigh. I am over overprivileged lefties, who have not walked the talk. They can try sleeping on concrete.

As I reflect on my life and biological family history, I had to right the ship. Don’t get left behind when the chips are down, all puns intended.

@Appleblossom I am way left of the conventional political parties even as I’ve got older and more cynical. In my opinion we are ruled by corporations and billionaires.

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

@Appleblossom Thanks sharing about yourself interesting to hear your side. Yes i have no problem with money as such, though it sure brought much evil around, humanity at large, serving the commodity, rather than each other with it.

My dad was poor when he began his family. They had 7 children and no government supports, so he worked his butt of all his working life Plus mum could not cope with us, so he got her paid help bringing us up and keeping the house clean.

Sadly my dad had no time for me, but only for all the things he and mum thought i needed, and they wanted me to have. For i went on holidays every year, had more expensive clothes than others, a nice house, and always got lots of toys compared to my peers. Yet ALL i ever craved after was their love, time and loyalty for me as their child. Yet money was much more important than me! As a youth i hated them being like that and leaving me to rot my accumulated bad life.

Sadly i must say amen, amen.

@Shaz51 @Appleblossom @Ru-bee @Till23

i'm no lefty. Rather i learned to hate politics altogether.

For democracy is an ugly dragon speaking like a lamb in my eyes. Because the majority always oppresses the minority. Even a honest election, if such is even possible in today's world, would not change this.

What we need to do is rule in wolf like manner. Their the Leader of the pack is at the rear, not the front. In the front The leader will place some of the strongest wolves, with the sick and pregnant straight behind. This is how i believe humanity should operate.

Not making those who tow the line millionaires and billionaires and those who do not force to take hand outs or worse sleep on the streets.

Haha @GezzaP I was too, and honestly see the circularity regarding authoritarianism in both left and right. Yep, job, chasing tax scammers. So I do agree with you. Also saw the tek rise from the inside. we can probably still be friends.lol don’t think I could bring myself to vote liberal, but I do sprinkle my vote among a range of independents, to try and keep big parties accountable.

my childhood was too extreme re poverty. Happy to have sat in ALP meeting as a 10 year old kid.

had baby commitments so, couldn’t stay and chat at uni cafe, where passionate students would go gangbusters, on all the leftie subgroups. Couldn’t afford to be an anarchist, back then, but late in life associated with many.

definitely not a billionaire fan, but I distinguish between small business efforts with integrity and try and find a responsible middle path…. Or am I getting confused by Buddhism? Lol

@Appleblossom @GezzaP

i believe that it have been mainly the small businesses which have not only financially kept us afloat, but retained us the little social freedoms that we still have intact Down Under.

i reckon that historically it has been the sizeable middle class in Australia which has been influential to keep us living the standards we have while improving social services.

As far as i'm concerned this has been one of the main reasons why the middle class is doomed to go. For the small business has suffered enormous losses from 2020 onwards, while overall the big corporations have done well during that time. Not sure about where you are, but over here the majority of shop for lease in our shopping centres are empty now and we are basically forced to buy most non perishables online.
