Loneliness

Loneliness

Loneliness is the biggest mental health issue worldwide and travelling through the forums I've come across many people looking for connection. Imagine if we could just talk to each other! It seems I need to learn to tag people, so they know that I've responded. I'm still learning to get my way around here. I do understand why people would leave, thinking, like me, that they could just go into a chat room. I guess it all needs to be monitored. Anyway, that's my whinge for today! My encouragement for today goes like this: There is no such thing as normal. The only normal I know is a setting on the washing machine! Be kind to yourself! Don't take it personally if I don't get back to you. I still can't work it all out! You'll just have to imagine my smiling emoji.

Re: Loneliness

Good to meet you to @Cuddlebear
I am ok thanks, just a few things that are hindering feeling better but that is just the way it is.

How are you? Oh and BTW, there are many threads that you can miss. I find this portal a little clunky!

I am feeling the advocacy studies may not be for me. It is starting to get to me in the way that I dont really want to be a part of legislation and government stuff or even study it. And after leaving the workforce due to dealing with a health issue I would like to work and spend my time now in creating a space in my life that align with my values and to enjoy my life. Well as best as I can with all the other stuff I deal with, he he.

Are you remote or do you have access to community centres where you could go and meet people etc?

I am feeling better.

Hope you are doing ok too

Hello @DownMoreThanUp,

I am so glad to hear that things have been feeling more stable for you and that you are no longer in pain. 🥰

Seeing your acquaintance must have been really lovely too.

How has today been so far? 🤩

Re: Loneliness

Oh that's so okay! @Kashmina

I often do this with my phone. 😂

I hear you on this one... what would you like to fill your days with to create more structure? I find activities that engage me physically help with this sense of fatigue and disconnect. Do you enjoy any movement practices?

Connecting to your inner self would also be really helpful. I wonder what that could look like for you?

Oh wow, your study sounds so interesting and meaningful to you - how amazing to be working towards something so empowering! As unaligned as your other roles were, sometimes those experiences can thrust us into what is meant for us. So, in a way, I am glad you were able to learn from them. 🥰

Yay! And oooh, painting and crocheting sound really fun. Anything you'd like to share?

And I think for me, I am wanting to put more of my attention onto my dance and singing projects.

@AuntGlow Yes my wife is a gem, without her i would have been lost i reckon. She taught me the value of love and forgiveness, and helped me understand where i had failed in my gone wrong life.

My day has been reasonable so far. A little short on sleep, and what i got has been poor quality feeling often badly nauseated during the night, but things have been much worse.

How has your day been?

Re: Loneliness

Happy Sunday @AuntGlow

I like to walk and I stretch due to an ongoing issue I have with my right side. I am looking at getting back into swimming (or should I say flapping in the pool) just casually. I enjoy walking in nature too but I havent done much of that lately

Being more structured, I believe helps people with mental health issues and all of us really. I would like to have a part time job but I know now is not the right time. I am not ready. I guess getting myself into a routine where once I am up I go through the day getting what I want/need done. When I float, I get very little done. To be fair to my situation, I am still struggling with fatigue a lot of the time so its hard to be motivated.

Connecting to myself and where/who I feel I am is an interesting process at this stage of my life. When you work full-time a lot of your identity is taken up by this. You dont have time to think about much else. Not working, working my way back from burnout and being older has given me time to assess who I really am and see what is going on around me more. I dont personally align with most that I see or experience and I dont think that is a bad thing. But having the freedom to self-reflect as much as I have been has challenged many beliefs I thought I had about life and myself and so I feel such a disconnect with my surroundings. For clarity, I completely understand physically where I am and what I am doing I just feel like I am floating ....... sometimes it is good and at other times I feel I want to grab onto something?! Weird, maybe or exactly how someone would feel at this stage of her life!

Nothing to show with crocheting at this stage or painting. Only starting but have made many coasters and cloths. Sounds terribly boring but the repetitive nature of the stitches helps me to learn.

I love that you dance and sing. Such beautiful ways to be creative 🙂 I would love to hear more about this.

I subscribe to some art classes on Domestika online and did some practice last night.

Hope you are enjoying your morning cuppa and doing something enjoyable x

Happy Sunday @Kashmina! 🌻

Flapping in the pool 😂 @me

I like that you're finding movement that's also gentle on your body. I am sure this not only helps you physically, but mentally too.

Yes, fatigue makes things so hard. I really feel you on this one... I like the idea of 'softening into action'. So creating structure that allows for flow and ease rather than pushing, and to know it's okay if not every step is taken. I wonder if you could explore this approach?

Interesting... it sounds like you're able to live a lot more consciously now. What do you know to be true about yourself and the world around you?

And maybe it's okay to float but have a few anchors in your back pocket to help you ground? Things like walking in nature. 🍃

Not boring at all! I like that you have the focus and discipline to keep exploring those foundations.

Aw thank you. I have had big creative blocks as of late, a fear of being seen and making mistakes, I think. But I have slowly been exploring theatre practices more. I am doing some commercial dance (heels) and some very silly bouffon classes at the moment. I am on the hunt for a new vocal coach too, but it's a lot to fit in (and expensive).

ooh that is really cool! What did you learn?

Thank you! I did enjoy my morning cuppa. ☕️✨

Hello @DownMoreThanUp,

I realised I missed this, I am sorry!

Your wife sounds beautiful. How did you meet? 💛

Have you been getting better sleep over the past couple of days?

My day has been really nice. I did some reading and pilates before work, some yummy food - I feel grateful!

Re: Loneliness

@AuntGlow We met through a friend i had only recently befriended, because he was the boy friend of my sister for some time, and who knew this wonderful girl, telling me she was a really nice person. When i met her i knew he had not lied about her, but had missed many things about her, to tell me about, from the irst time we met i was infatuated with her.

A few weeks later, as we were mucking around about girl friends in his workshop, he jokingly challenged me to ask her out for dinner. i kind of laughingly told him i would taking on the challenge. He then bet me 50 bucks i would not be able to get her to come out with me, for he had tried and others as well, but she had not been easily caught. For he smilingly told the 50 bucks were assuredly for him. i jokingly told him to give me two weeks. Which is precisely how long it ended up taking me. i cannot remember if he ever paid me the 50 bucks, knowing him better now, i doubt it somehow.😉

At the time it put the challenge on big time. However, after some embarrassing moments her mum and dad put me through answering my phone calls, she agreed to come out for dinner with me Saturday night coming, but only for an one night stand. i cleverly agreed telling her of course no pressure(🤣).

However i was in the clouds, and when i laid the phone down, rushed of to my friend to tell him the good news.

We had a great night, and i leaned already that night to see, she had many qualities i really admired in a person. The very qualities i had been looking for in girls, but had not often been able to find, a transparency that glowed honesty, a love for living, and the good things in life, as well as real commitment to her loved ones.

The good part was that before i began dating my wife, i had never been in love, though i did have some brief relationships before. And the girl i had gone out with ended up in love with me, but i was not in love with them. Such times were hard and emotionally painful times. And made me much more careful going out with girls non seriously like i had done before.

Anyhow on that one night stand she told me she wanted to go to Albany to catch up with friends the Easter weekend coming. i had many friends in Albany, i had not seen for some time, so i instantly, seeing a good chance, asked her if she wanted a lift, for i was going there as well. She agreed! And so we came to be life partners. Perth to Albany is a 4 hour drive, we had a wonderful time together, and fell deeply in love with each other over the weekend.

So that Easter weekend we kissed our first kiss and have not stopped kissing since, 😘 nearly 43 years of marriage later, 😍 though we did court for 18 months before we tied the knot. So in reality we have loved one another for 45 years coming Easter. And although my mental illness, which mercifully i did not know i had at the time, although i certainly already suffered the full brunt of it, took us through hell and back, many a times, she stayed faithful to me, even when i was not. Truth be told, my wife, taught me what, and the value of, faithful love. For sadly before i met her, i did not know what true love looked like, her undying love taught me to see!

And yes my sleep has been better the last 2 nights, i did near 7 hours over just two sleeps. A massive improvement to where i have been recently.

Have a great day.

Re: Loneliness

Oh goodness, this story about your partner is beautiful!! 🥹

You're so lucky to have found one another. I am so happy to know you have her support and that her love taught you how to be faithful and reciprocal, what an amazing human to have in your life. Thank you for sharing. @DownMoreThanUp 🥰

After Jesus, my wife is the most beautiful person i'm privileged to know and love. Without her, human wise speaking, i would not be here today.
