Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

@tyme I haven’t shared much so far but he knows more than my previous GP. I get many GPs are super busy and reading letters can get tedious. My current one appears to be more up to date with my MH.

I have some reflections that I wanted to touch on during upcoming appointment because it might have an impact on therapeutic relationship. I’ve been trying to separate my parent's beliefs of relationships from my own beliefs. I’ve had issues with enmeshment trauma

How has today been @creative_writer ?

@tyme I’ve been slowly working on a triggering assignment. I need to get it out of the way because it’s a hurdle. Just coping the best I can. Maybe I should give them anonymous feedback, they could be more gentle in the way they teach sensitive material. They say SA is super common and I wouldn’t be surprised if others also had a lived experience, I wonder how other students feel.

I think I’m going to try to chill tonight. I am very exhausted. Have you been up to much today?

I was just sharing elsewhere that I'm feeling quite exhausted today too. I think my iron is very low. It's a 'different' exhaustion. This one feels like my body is being pulled to the ground. So I plan on resting up tonight, then I have a few things to do tomorrow, and I have a whole day of First Aid training, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Allergy training on Monday @creative_writer So I have a lot coming up. I hope I don't get sick!

I'm glad to hear you are taking it easy too.

@tyme iron is one of those things. I took iron supplements every second day for a while, they made me constipated. I stopped taking them because I got my ferritin levels up. I’m due to get bloods done again.

I hope you’re able to get what you need to get done.

I have more uni stuff I want to get done tomorrow. I might try to mix it up with a more straightforward assignment

I had to take it everyday for 6 months... then every second day.... but I can't be bothered. When I feel this lethargic, then I remember again. So I've taken mine tonight @creative_writer

Uni again? I thought you finished?? Are you starting another course?

Re: Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

@tyme I’ve forgotten to take supplements and even meds a number of times. It can be confusing when there are multiple pills that need to be taken.

I recently started a new mental health course. It’s been a big trigger because I am finding myself getting triggered by the content. My friend also agreed there is a lot of sensitive content. I don’t think they’re managing it adequately. They’ve opened up an anonymous survey, I could mention it on that. It would be too confronting to directly talk to the staff

@creative_writer slowly catching up on posts (up to 16 March currently lol !)

"I feel like we are more vulnerable to experiencing SI."

You are correct. SI risk is higher in autistic populations than in the general population (3-8 time more). But this is also common in other minority groups too, including gender-diverse/queer/etc. I think any time people don't feel they "fit" and hit access/inclusion barriers... thats really hard to live with right? It can affect so much of life, and can be in different ways for different people, but it all has a toll.

All caught up on your/this thread now @creative_writer !

Sounds like you've had a ready hard week with flashbacks the other week 😢.

I am wondering whether the flashbacks are a result of the triggering content of the course? Or a coincidence? 🤔

I guess either way, as you mention, its a matter or how to cope and process it. *hugs*

If the course becomes a bit too intense/overwhelming with the feelings, is there the option to do it slower? (I.e. part time. Or part-of-part-time lol) just if you needed more time to take breaks when doing assignments and more days off to recover from the triggers. 🤔.

Not sure if it would be helpful for you of course - just food for thought, as i know sometimes the need to take hard things slower with more breaks to regulate. 😊

Ok, i'd better leave it there as its nearly 11pm for me 🤭 so bed time. I may not reply for a long while as i am still 2 weeks behind in reading notifications 😅. Its just that since your thread wasnt too long i was able to read through all at once to catch it up this evening.

@AlwaysMyself there is autistic and ADHD burn out. Sensory overload has intensified feelings of SI in the past. I haven’t had SI for a few days, they were starting to pop up a bit. I think
I was super triggered and I still am, feeling sensations in my body rn.

I don’t identify as gender diverse or queer. I may be on the ace spectrum, but I’m not sure if it is a trauma response.

I finally finished off the triggering assignment today. I’m studying part time and can’t manage any more. I am really behind but I’m trying to catch up.

I hope you are doing okay 😊💖
