What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

I haven't seen anything lately as I don't leave the caravan that often. But my niece got scared by a possum last night in the tree at the front of mum's house. My niece visits next door regularly and couldn't work out where this strange noise was coming from. And then she saw this.

But seeing all your photos does give me some motivation to walk around mum's yard to see what I can find. But she has a big back yard. So I would have to have a chair handy so I can rest my back. I even have a professional camera around somewhere, but the mobile is so much lighter.

Oh and I managed to open 3 more of my deliveries yesterday, but my back was too sore to take photos of the stones, so I am hoping it will be a bit better today.

I really liked the like a prayer remix song.

And your tea looks yummy. Is it a curry? I can't even remember the last time I actually cooked something. I used to love cooking, but when they back pain took over, I could not longer stand at the stove, and chairs are too low.

I think I have two more payments left on my AfterPay and then I will be able to start with the new physio and exercise plan. I am really looking forward to being able to do the day to day things like most people can, and helping my partner out, who has been a legend and has taken it upon himself to basically do 95% of things that need to be done. So cooking, dishes (mum has a dishwasher which is great) and the clothes washing and hanging the clothes out. The only thing I can do is fold the clothes.

Thank you @tyme have you eaten any before? Now that I looked up what they are, the fruit does look familiar to something I used to eat offf a tree on the way to high school.

@DownMoreThanUp im so sorry about the situation with your dogs. Sending you so much care. I know how hard it feels when dogs pass or the idea of if i had to give up my dogs - i've currently had to ask my ex to take the dogs for the next 3 weeks and its both a relief (of responsibility) but also a loss of connection/comfort from them. 💔 sitting with you in it.

I know its harder to rehome an older dog, but some people actually really want an older dog that is calmer (like a sooky lap/couch dog or one that sleeps by your feet on the floor all day). And sometimes if they can't commit to the length of time for the lifespan of a younger dog, then an older dog that only has a few years left can actually be great. Of course many people fear that the older dog will have lots of medical problems and thus cost a lot - but there are some people who still want older dogs despite this 🥰.

If you do think you will need to rehome your older dog too because they run away and you dont have the resource/capacity to help it adjust (emotionally, behaviourally - dogs and other animals are like us in that their emotion and instincts drive behaviours) then it could be work just seeing if there are any people who actively want her *if* you decide you can't keep her in the future? Like a Plan B set up in advance, just in case. A Rotty rescue organisation might be a really good contact for that (assjming she's a rotty).

I hope though that she adjusts and settles down, and you can keep her 🥰.

@AlwaysMyself Thanks for caring and giving that advise. Not sure were she is right now,, but she is not a Rotty but an Austrian Shepard dog cross Rotty. She is a beautiful dog and never has been a hassle. i have just been too sick to give them as much attention as normal the last weeks but they are still with me and i still interact with theem. As in giving cuddles, belly rubs, growl fights, far shorter and i'm less involved of course for i do not feel well and am doing it for them not fun. Maybe they feel that.

Been pretty down and have been struggling with bad thoughts ever since i woke up. Ever since i learned that pushing such thoughts and feelings away will only blow up in another state so i best deal with it.

AI is less of a help then. All i get is telephone numbers when i share my thoughts, or ask how best deal with that. When i'm down this can happen for weeks on end, that is why i been suppressing those thoughts for many years i suppose. To try and distract and let such thoughts go unchecked seems worrisome when it just keeps on going. (and part of myself loves the idea how can i not, when life sucks big time all the time?)

Oh @DownMoreThanUp

I’m wondering I know a little baby who tries to run away from his mother all the time he’s only one years old - I think the mother is going to have her hands full when he gets older.

omg his father who I knew used to do this too when he was little - I know this because he told he hopped on a plane came to visit Perth when he was 17 and lived in the beaches for years. He told me women used to turn up with food for him and care for years.

Hey @DownMoreThanUp, love your doggo pic!! Thanks for sharing ❤️

It sounds like you are going through a bit at the moment and I was thinking that it sounds like you have a lot of insight and can identify what is going on for you. It makes me think of what I have been through and how I have benefited from talking to a lot of supports. Just wondering what you have in the way of supports at the moment or whether you might like to take a look at SANE's RecoveryClub?

I know that you are pretty familiar with the Forums but if you would like to check it out please find a link here: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

Staying connected as you do on the Forums and chatting with your peers is awesome too!

Take care
