@ENKELI @Chasingsunsets At the time when I was couch surfing, an old work friend, asked me to house sit her two-story house with a pool for 3 days, so of course I jumped at the chance. Especially since she had a dog to look after, and lizard and birds. It did not go well. We both worked together for 15 years, so we knew each other pretty well and most of the time, we liked the same things. Especially Tupperware, we were both hosting parties all the time.
When I went into her kitchen to use the plates etc, as I open her cupboard there is all the Tupperware that we both liked, and she had other things around her house that were the same as I use to have. So, I started feeling a bit down, because I had lost my 31 squares 4 bedroom house (that I owned outright) and because of my f%#kwit of an ex husband. I ended up having no choice, but to sell the house. All my belongings went into a shipping container at a storage yard. So, I was really starting to feel sorry for myself, for what I no longer have. And to make matters worse, my DV partner had just been released from jail and was returning interstate to live with him mum. And he started messaging me, asking me to come and see him for one last time. Which did not do.
The people who I was actually stay with, I confided in them with everything, and the wife was in the process of doing a diploma in mental health, and I had a good relationship with the husband, as he was into cars and going to the burnouts etc, and his wife was not. So, when he asked me if I wanted to go, I jumped at the chance. They used to call me his burnout wife. We had some really good talks, and I spared no details. For the first time I had told someone my full story with nothing held back. So anyway, I messaged the husband to tell him how I was feeling and about the ex, and his replied shocked and devastated me. I can't even remember what he said now, but I remember how it made me feel. I felt BETRAYED. The answer he gave me actually sounded like something his wife would write, but I never confirm who wrote it. That was the start of my SI.
There was no way I was going back to live with them after what was said, and on the Sunday when I went to leave my friend's house, my car wouldn't start. I ended up taking a taxi to the closest caravan park and booked a cabin for the night. I just wanted some time to myself, instead of having to explain what happened to my parents when I got to their place. I needed to try and make sense of this and work out what I was going to do. While at the cabin, I received a phone call wanting to confirm who I was and if I was OK, as I had been reported missing by the people I lived with. So, when I left in the morning, I had to get the taxi to take me to the police station, so I could prove that I am who I say I am, and that I am OK. I then got the taxi back to my friend's house so I could organise a tow truck to have my car towed to my parents' place. I disappeared the first night and went and stayed at a hotel, as I felt I needed more alone time. I even paid cash, so I couldn't be traced. And that night I got a knock on the door, and it was the police wanting to do a welfare check. I kept my phone turn off most of the time, so I couldn't be traced, but turned it on intermittently to check for messages, as I was telling the people that I am not returning, and I will collect my belongings, once the car was fixed.
So, as you can see, for me the house sitting, turned into a disaster and put me in a darker place than when I arrived. Which is why the cat ended up with my mum, as I had nowhere else to take her.
Oh, while I was there, one of my friends came over as he wanted to check on me, as he knew I wasn't doing well. And then that night I received a message from my friend saying that she does not want any other person in her house with me. So, she obviously had the neighbour checking on me. Which made me feel like shit, that she didn't trust me. I was so mad, on top of everything else that was going on. We are no longer friends.
Sorry for rambling on and hijacking this post, but the topic reminded me of what I went through, and it all just came tumbling out.
