What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

Love your highlight @MDT, thanks for the book recommendation, I’ve noted it 🤗

I love your last line I think it’s so important right. Sometimes we are so busy or distracted with that life throws at us, it’s nice to just bring ourselves back. 💛

Hey @Cuddlebear stay warm in that Melbourne weather 🥶, I hope you have a lovely comfy jacket or nice blanket. Sorry the tapper is making you feel worse. I wonder what things you have found recently that helped you feel a bit better?

Im ok thanks, just about to head for a nap 😊

No nap for me @Chasingsunsets. Meds get me to sleep and although it's broken, I get around 6 - 7 hours of sleep a night. I'm usually up by 5.30. I come straight online to see if I have any messages. 😁 I usually have a few, which is nice. I think @GezzaP is up early too. It's all relatively new for me waking at 5.30 but I don't mind. It's a nice time of day!

@Chasingsunsets one of the people I house sat for told me that they referred me to someone else. When asked if I was reliable my friend said "yes she's well worth the $200 we paid her." He was joking as I never asked for money, most of these people were my friends and they always brought me expensive gifts as a thank you so I didn't expect to be paid. When I house sat at the referral, sure enough, they paid me $200 as well as giving me some lovely gifts! I felt embarrassed and told them they didn't have to pay me, they said keep it.

My friends in Dalkeith had a beautiful 2 storey with a loft. The gardens were gorgeous and they hosted many parties with people like the Premier and other well known politicians (I won't say names as I don't want to share my political affiliations!) My cousin had his engagement party at their house and I felt rather flash when I house sat for them!

My cousins' house in South Perth is my favourite. Their pantry is the size of my kitchen! They both loved to cook and the kitchen itself was a dream too. I always said when my house grows up it's going to have a pantry like that.

I hope you enjoy house sitting the big house, having a pool in summer will be nice too, especially since the puppers are allowed in it!

@Chasingsunsets I am really getting tired, but there is no point napping now, otherwise I won't get a full nights sleep. Well that's if I sleep. I need to reset my sleeping patten once again.

Hi @Cuddlebear how are you today?

The modified training went ok today, not too terrible on my knee, I feel it a bit but not bad at all really.

There was then a loong meeting (sports club stuff) I did have a coffee and a tea while I was there! Keeping my coffee intake up - but just not matching it with @Shaz51 and others! There are some champion coffee consumers on here - maybe that should be a thread name 😂

Keeping myself occupied seems to help me feel better and if I can get a couple of things off my never ending to do list!!

I once saw a public psychiatrist because I was referred by my psychologist it was through community mental health, which was like an outpatients department so at a hospital, but I was not a patient or have never been a patient of the hospital. It was at a time I felt a bit suicidal, but hadn't done anything, so hadn't been to a hospital. My psych was just too worried I think. I suppose it is different in different states and depending where you live. I think you are in Melbourne and I would have thought it would be available.outpatient psychiatry would be available. The disconnect between inpatient and outpatient seems terrible.

Do you have anything planned for next week?

@Chasingsunsets because I can't walk any more, If I start to get really anxious and can't cope, there is a lookout that I go to that has a couple of tables and chairs. So, I buy myself a coffee on the way there and try and work through the issues in my head.

This is the lookout

@Cuddlebear hey Cuddlebear thank you so much for your kind words regarding my son. i rang him earlier and he was happy and spoke at length as to what he had been doing today going for his fav coffee and cake and finding other things on the internet which he enjoys which happen to be his fav animal crocodiles 🙂 . it is just exhausting having to deal with these dramas alone as his father has dementia and although comes to visit and take him out i am on the ground and my son tends to tell me all the problems part and parcel of being a mum aye. xxx

Yes @heartathome @Chasingsunsets @Till23 @Mustang67 @ENKELI I get up early because I can’t stay awake in the evenings even when I want to. I like the early morning. I check my emails and facebook, do some physio exercises and a bit of chair yoga and do some Spanish lessons. Then I usually walk up the local shops then water seeds and pots. I used to sleep later but recently I have been waking up earlier.
