Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer My mother was often in denial and stopped taking her meds and got sick. I always take my meds I’m fanatical about it.

My Dad ended his own life guess he couldn’t cope. I couldn’t help him anymore. I tried but guess I thought he was ok but obviously he wasn’t.

Glad your event was good and that you are a bit better today.

@GezzaP it's hard accepting that one needs meds. I've had moments when I thought I didn't need meds, I didn't want to feel controlled by them. I was too hypomanic to think rationally. I've come to accept that meds do work for me.

That's rough with your dad. Mental illness robs too many lives. Sadly, we cannot always help others

Re: Feeling caged up

Sorry about my previous message probably shouldn’t have posted that about my dad. I’m doing ok today @creative_writer . Slept ok but woke up a bit early. Went for a walk this morning. Did some Spanish. Too lazy to water today. Will need to do it tomorrow. Motivation is the main problem. Helper is supposed to come tomorrow but I haven’t heard from him yet. He’ll probably message me after I go to sleep I told him not to leave it too late. I will chase him up as per usual.

@creative_writer I have always taken my meds but I still get mood swings and it has gotten worse during and after menopause for me. Darn hormones.

Rationally I know I couldn’t have done anymore for my dad but emotionally you sometimes wonder if you could have done more.

Hello lovely!

I am feeling good overall today, but suddenly got very sleepy hahah

How are you? @GezzaP

And good afternoon @creative_writer

Yes, you are absolutely right. How do you tend to take care of yourself in that space?

I understand that so much! My medication helps me but makes me very lethargic and foggy too... I am glad to hear that you are safe.

What have you had the space and energy for self-care wise today? 💖

Re: Feeling caged up

@AuntGlow I’m ok today. Woke up early but surprisingly didn’t nod off in the afternoon. I probably would have if I tried to read but did some puzzles instead. I reckon the meds make me sleepy in the day too. Some days are not as bad.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP no need to apologise, I've seen and heard a lot from not my own life, but placement and volunteer work. They just had to put a trigger warning to meet community guidelines.

Hormones can definitely play a role, I would imagine menopause would affect bipolar symptoms.

I think sometimes all we can do is be kind to ourselves, we can only do the best we can.

@AuntGlow do you get afternoon sleepiness too? Right now I'm not taking any shifts until after a few days, I am still monitoring myself.

Staying safe is the priority right now. I could give it a bit longer, it's been super rough, so naturally my brain will be even foggier (even taking away the med effects). I'm going to take some time for prayers, might try to breathe while I perform them. My spirituality saved my life on Friday, I had no other reason to go on for. It was my only light in the midst of darkness. I'm also trying to take it easy, I've realised some big things recently, and it's been super painful, but it all makes sense.

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Bipolar and menopause/post-menopause interact for me for sure. I have depression more often than hypomania, but for me the up is more risky. I get a little bit of SI when I’m down but it is manageable.

Just got in bed so put fan on as I get hot at night. Will listen to radio for a little while until I fall asleep.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP the up can be risky despite what people may think, impulsivity goes up. I'm the worst when I'm depressed and hypomanic at the same time, I can cope with plain depression and resist SI. Once I'm agitated, it gets super hard to stay safe. I may still be depressed, I can cope, but I am thankful that agitation has passed.

I hope you were able to stay cool, we have a warm day here. I hope today has been kind to you 💖

Re: Feeling caged up

I’m ok @creative_writer . I’m a bit irritable and am being fussy with my helper. I have to harass him to get him to do what I want done or he just goes ahead and does other jobs. We went out for lunch so I got out for an hour. I think I may still be a bit hypomanic but also a bit down.

How are you?
