Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Oh no you’ve got the buying bug too @creative_writer ! I don’t buy stuff when I’m depressed only when I’m hypomanic. I tend to scroll on Facebook when I’m depressed and sometimes I listen to Leonard Cohen songs. Got a book of his music and poems too. I try to read.

Well I hope you sleep tonight. I know what wired and tired feels like but as I’ve got older I’ve found I fall asleep in the armchair if only for 10-20 minutes.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I don’t know if I’m both depressed and hypomanic. All I can hope is it settles because I don’t want to take more meds again. My mood is low and yet sleep is bad and energy levels are too high. The shopping bug has struck me. My mind is a confusing mess. In mood states like this, it becomes even harder to stay safe. Being plainly depressed is way easier because I don’t have the high impulsivity.

I do a lot of doomscrolling and listening to depressing music. I know I should do something more productive than listen to depressing music on repeat, including music with SI themes. But I can’t help it, it feels very overwhelming. I feel so alone and lost. I’m safe

Went for a walk, calmed down a bit. It’s been a very emotional and crazy day. I didn’t realise how hard it would be to reduce one of my meds. I was hoping to feel better, the meds contributed to the lightheadedness, disassociation and fogginess. Maybe the withdrawal takes time to settle and hopefully it’s not the start of a long mixed bipolar episode

Sensory overload really would be tricky to manage... your nervous system is just completely flooded in those moments. I can relate to this feeling. @creative_writer

Did you talk about it all with your psych? I am glad you had a big session, it sounds like it was very helpful. I would be happy to hear more details if you feel like sharing.

When do you start your lower dose? 💖

I am sorry you have to wait for more support @GezzaP... 😔

Have they given you things to work on/towards in the meantime?

It sounds like there is so much going on! And yes, bills are endless, it's exhausting.

Nothing to work on until January @AuntGlow . Showers here tomorrow so might miss my walk unfortunately. Can feel my hypomania swing is ending which is good. Hoping to sleep well again tonight.

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Always takes time for change of meds to work, sometimes it doesn’t work. Seems to me there is a lot of guess work in psych meds.

Re: Feeling caged up

@AuntGlow we touched on developmental stuff. You can have loving parents but sometimes they can’t support their kids emotionally. I think I’ve mentioned my mum has her own mental health stuff which made it super hard. She has really bad separation anxiety from her adult children.

I lowered the dose last week on Wednesday and had a further dose reduction yesterday. The yesterday’s dose reduction sent me feeling unstable. I’m hoping I stabilise, I could barely sleep last night. I’ve had depressive and hypomanic symptoms simultaneously today. I was already depressed, but it’s hard when that high energy state kicks while depressed. Impulsivity can go up, and that is exactly what gets my supports worried

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP it’s tricky knowing how much is enough meds and how much is too much meds. There is a lot of trial and error, and it’s true it doesn’t always work. I will see how I sleep today, might try recording my sleep tonight to get some insight. Might give me a clue on how often I wake up and how long. I know last night I woke up multiple times and struggled to remain asleep. I also tend to disassociate if I can’t sleep, so tracking sleep naturally gets hard. I don’t even remember what I think about. I can’t say I was ruminating over things because I just can’t remember

@creative_writer Yes hard to keep track of sleep. I can’t record with pen cause cat would knock pen off bedside table have to record on phone.

Starting to wind down now no more answers from me tonight. Hope you sleep.
