Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Re: Feeling caged up

It sucks if you can’t talk to your family @creative_writer . Why not?

I’m watching the news then Gardening Australia. Then off to bed. Might fall asleep in armchair though as woke up at 3am.

Had hot water and glass of cold water before going for blood test. Froze waiting for testing office to open. I was very early.

Was totally exhausted after running all my errands. Home by 10.15am. Blood place opened at 7am . I was first in line.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I don’t think they really get it. Though mental illness runs in my family.

7am is early to get to a blood place, ours opens at 8am. Though we get a lot of people in our area, so people line up before 8am

If I were my psychiatrist @creative_writer , I’d say get out of your house a bit more. Go to cafe or something like that.

Just stop isolating yourself with your SI. Go to the supermarket then grab a drink and a snack in a cafe afterwards. Go in the morning when you are feeling better.

That’s all I can think of to suggest @creative_writer . What do you think @tyme ?

I personally agree @GezzaP @creative_writer . Getting out. Getting out of your own head. Getting out and just soaking in nature.

I used to find that the more I stayed at home, the bigger the thoughts became, and the harder it was to get out.

Hence I really had to push through it and not 'give into' myself when I wanted to hide.

Re: Feeling caged up

@tyme walks are great, but as one strategy, you need multiple. I do get out for more walks. I am more active than I used to be. Though right now exercise is still very much a means of control, will need to work on that.

I think I’m having a flare up right now. It’s just hard to manage even with all the self care I try to use. It’s frustrating that I feel like I’m not getting the results I was hoping. You can try to eat clean, exercise, work on ED recovery, go to therapy, use self care, take meds and supplements and it can still feel so rough. It’s been worse since last week, and I don’t know what happened. Like what am I missing?

Happy Sunday, you two! @creative_writer @GezzaP

How are things feeling today? 💖

Re: Feeling caged up

I’m ok @AuntGlow . I tried to read my novel but keep nodding off. Trying not to sleep in the day time so I sleep better at night, but it is hard as it is quite warm here today. I also still get hot flushes in the late afternoon. Even pussycat has come inside. Haven’t heard from @creative_writer today.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP and @AuntGlow I hope you are both doing well 💖. It’s been a rough weekend, but I have upcoming appointments with my supports next week, might touch up safety planning and see what we can do to stabilise the depression. I’m at an event this afternoon, hoping it keeps me distracted. Might not distract me 100% as intrusive thoughts are persistent, but better than nothing.

Oh good you are out @creative_writer !

Glad to hear you have support appts. My psychiatrist is calling Tuesday. I’m sure we will mostly talk about my erratic sleep.

Oh well have electrician coming at 7.30am Thursday so won’t fight getting up early too much. Also got a quote Weds for security door on front door, mine is f… .

Turning 63 on Friday going out Weds afternoon for birthday. Excuse italics!

Had an unhealthy dinner of bacon and eggs. Had a banana. It’s warm here today. Going to be hot tomorrow. Need to make a couple of salads for tomorrow. Will make potato salad with spring onions and hard-boiled eggs and will have lettuce as well.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I hope the psychiatrist is able to help you with your sleep.

It sounds like you’ve got a couple of things planned for the week coming. M

The event is coming close to an end. It was a good distraction, even if it wasn’t a complete distraction from my mind

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Glad you had a distraction.

I’m going now to watch news and then will go to bed.

Might need fan on tonight, but the bedroom has been shut up all day so I hope it is cold still. Got shorts on today and will tomorrow. Probably go to twenty-four hour shop tomorrow to avoid heat.
