Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP what are you having for dinner?

I’ve had chicken, sweet potato, radishes, rocket and carrot with sauce.

Very healthy @creative_writer . I had bolognese. Watching news.

@GezzaP I can’t seem to tolerate fancier food right now. Anything that triggers bloating will make ED worse. Not disassociating anymore, but feeling really anxious. I could reach out for support but don’t feel like I have anything to say, can’t get beyond this stuck point.

I hope you’ve been able to wind down tonight after a long day

Re: Feeling caged up

This is a really observant reflection @creative_writer. Hmm... I wonder if you could notice where you feel things generally? For example, noticing your chest feels heavy, but that your fingers feel light. So, slowly bringing in a sort of non-judgemental awareness into the body. This might help you to reconnect to feeling?

I am doing okay, thank you for asking. I have had a bit of a dysregulated day, so trying to be kind to myself! 💛

@AuntGlow body awareness can be great for many people, but I am no longer in the position to do it anymore. I used to be able to do body scans. It’s been hard since my body flashbacks have become more chronic. I find it easier to focus outwards on objects, box breathing is also okay (since I focus on breath and counting, not my body). I did a breathing exercise after exercise today and it helped a bit. Feeling discomfort rn in places that are torture (I’m too ashamed to tell my psych), but my mind is sort of detaching in order to cope, so I’m left feeling apathetic.

I hope it’s been easier for you today💖

Re: Feeling caged up

I’m fine @creative_writer . Just had a snooze in arm chair as slept only 5 hours last night. Trying to wake up now. Cold here today so didn’t garden. Wind was too cold for me. Retreated inside and had a lazy day. I’m doing some puzzles. Just fed cat see if she eats food so fussy.

Sounds like you’re struggling today. Hope you’re ok.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP we have a windy day here. I chose to workout at home today, might try to go for a walk tomorrow.

It’s been rough, I’m struggling with discomfort I’m too scared to talk about. I know my psych is there to support me, but I’ve been minimised so many times
