Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

@GezzaP PRN stands for pro re nata. It’s not regular meds you take, you only take when needed.

I need a dark room too. Not sure if you’ve heard about dark therapy. Simulating darkness before bed can help manage mania. Obviously it doesn’t replace meds, but it’s something I’ve found helpful. Being exposed to the wrong lighting can wake you up. I tend to use strong blue light blocking glasses before bed.

@creative_writer no I don’t have PRN meds. I wouldn’t be able to read with those glasses. I have glasses to read. My lights are very bright maybe I’ll turn light off and just have the light off the TV. I want to watch the news before I go to bed.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP having those bright lights off might help. I’ve been contemplating whether I should get those soft circadian rhythm friendly amber lights, they would feel so soothing. Bright lights can feel too much for me because I’m neurodivergent and my eyes are super sensitive to circadian rhythm disturbances.

I hope you are able to do something to wind down tonight 💖

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I will try muscle relaxation meditation when I get into bed. Turned light off. Winding down. It will be an early night. But will try not to make it too early. Decided to take higher dose of anti-psychotic and sedative med tonight. I really need to sleep.

Gardener/cleaner cancelled coming tomorrow as his dog died yesterday. 🥲Coming Tuesday instead. So I’ll walk to my chiro appt. Can’t drive if I don’t sleep. Walk will do my back good hopefully.
sorry to hear you are neurodivergent on too of everything else.

@GezzaP hope the meditation and meds helps. I hope the chiro provides you with relief.

I don’t really see ND as a flaw, but it is a struggle. The world is made for neurotypical people

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Well I have got into bed. Will try to meditate. Chiro usually gives quite quick relief. Quicker and cheaper than physio. No this world is not made for us odd ball types lol and there is still so much stigma and intolerance. Need to try Chinese acupuncture on my back and neck too. I’ve heard that can work really well for some people.

oh puss has come to bed too.

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I only slept for 3 hours last night. I am so tired. Not safe to drive will walk to chiro. Still hypomanic but not too bad. Thinking of having lunch in a cafe near chiro. Will take my kindle to read a novel or do some Spanish language brushing up if I can stay awake. Got some snags out of the freezer bangers and mash for dinner with peas.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I have been afraid of chiro, I found physio limiting, I feel like I'm better off exercising. I hope you appointment went well.

You mentioned speaking Spanish, do you speak any other languages apart from English and Spanish.

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Chiro is good for me. He really cracked my back and neck. But I still have some discomfort and a headache. Put tiger balm on head as can’t take any more painkillers yet.

I can count to 7 in Indonesian ha ha and with my Spanish I find I can understand some Portuguese, French and Italian. I know a few words in German too.

Basically if I can get a proper nights sleep my back will be better. I also need to move more, but I am so tired I don’t feel like it.

Speaking to psychiatrist tomorrow.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP glad the chiro helped. It sounds like you know more language than many of us do.

I hope the psychiatrist is able to get your bipolar back on track.

Sleep can make a huge difference to pain. Mania and hypomania can be exhausting and so burn you out
