Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I hope you weren't visited by the insomnia fairies last night. Mexican food sounds delicious. Feeling rather wired and migrainey today, didn't get much sleep last night

Re: Feeling caged up

I woke up early again but a little later than the last couple of nights. @creative_writer

Have been eating regularly as I was hungry when I woke up.
Back and neck really bad today and got a headache. Painkillers offer brief respite. Hanging out to go to chiropractor tomorrow. I am definitely hypomanic. The change of meds has not been kind to me. Will call psychiatrist tomorrow to try to get an appointment.

Watching women’s footy today.

I’m sorry to hear you are not doing so well today.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I eat smaller regular meals.

Do you get the dysphoric hypomania type? Lack of sleep definitely doesn’t help. I hope you are able to get into your psychiatrist soon.

I’m on doing things mode right now, I know it’ll burn me out, but I can’t stop

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I rarely get dysphoric mania. I twice had delusions you know imagining stuff. I haven’t had that for years. My bipolar is quite well managed these days. I do tend to buy stuff I don’t really need though which is irritating. I’m so tired today I am not too restless. Not irritable either. Doing more back exercises today. Waiting for a cleaner to call me. I hate cleaning and I’m very messy, stuff everywhere. Need a clean out of junk and to tidy stuff away, need a few days with more sleep to face that task.

Did some washing early this morning when electricity was at its cheapest rate. Hung it up inside as we had a bit of rain this morning. So far the puss hasn’t pulled any down yay.

Tempted to take extra painkillers

for my back, neck and headache.

I’m so sorry to hear you are having a bad day and slept badly.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I can’t imagine how scary it would be to have delusions, I’ve never experienced psychosis before. I hope the physical pain settles soon. Neck and back pain along with headaches is the worst.

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I had psychosis when I had my first episode before I knew I had bipolar. I had delusions a few years later but managed to get treatment before it became full psychosis. Checked myself into hospital that 2nd time. Now I just have to get psychiatrist to adjust meds to keep things under control. Not sleeping is the most dangerous thing for me. Tempted to take more anti-psychotic medication tonight to help me sleep, but probably should talk to psych if I can get an appointment. Don’t remember much about psychosis. Once had to have ECT for clinical depression that I got after the first psychosis. You’re lucky you haven’t had psychosis. I was arrested by the police and transported to hospital but I don’t remember that. I remember them restricting me at the hospital though, but my memories are vague. The ECT affects your memory.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP sounds like the psychosis was really bad. I've heard ECT can affect memory. I would imagine not sleeping is very risky for mania, particularly with a history of psychosis. I hope you are able to stay stable and you are able to get your meds sorted

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer Thank you. I’m hoping I can stabilise things quickly too. Just wish I could sleep properly. Hoping I can speak to my psych Tuesday. Otherwise I might have to seek help elsewhere.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP has your psychiatrist given you any PRN, medication to take when needed? I also find dark quiet rooms are more soothing than stimulating environment during hypomania, not sure if affects you too, I have sensory issues. I have to make sure I don’t get lots of light exposure, especially in the evenings, hence my vampire red glasses

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer What is PRN? I have the higher dose I was previously on in the cupboard. She lowered the dose as I was depressed before, but I feel I need to go back on the higher dose. It is a sedative and a anti-psychotic drug. I took an extra sleeping tablet when I woke up early but I couldn’t go back to sleep.

My bedroom is very dark. But sometimes I don’t turn radio off before I go to sleep. I need to stand up and go around and close the blinds and roller shutters. Also need to stand up for my back. It is a bit too early to go to bed even though I feel like it.
