@GezzaP if this is anything to go by friend used to have huge winter heating bills because he had to keep warm due to health issues. Told him to get an electric throw - he didnt do it until he realised he could no longer afford heating. He bought an electric throw and said it kept him warmer than a heater and had no big bills. The bill was really low with no spike because electric throws hardly use any energy. And it was great for is health problem. He said he wished he had of done it sooner after paying thousands for heating. He used to live in a part of Victoria that gets very cold if that says anything. I had a trusty electric throw from k-mart that lasted for years, they are a great investment. No big bills and warm as toast. Saw an American on a budgeting site on fb have one in every room. K-mart or Target are pretty good GezzaP. You could do a Paypal Pay in 4 just for this purchase only to spread your budget a bit

@StuF Centrepay through social security makes it easier to manage my bills - an amount gets deducted from my pay each fortnight and goes direct to my utilities provider before I receive my disability pension. In the meantime I try and restrict my power usage as much as possible to keep bills down. This scheme has worked quite well over the years for me. Once the money has gone to my utilities provider I have to budget with whats left.

@SmilingGecko Surprised at your gas bill. Are your stove and water gas? Utilities are cheaper in Victoria than SA. I have to review my plans but get confused and overwhelmed by it all. I have to take my time over it.
I will look at getting a throw next pay cycle running low on funds this pay cycle. Should set aside money for bills.
@TAB hope you can get of thyroid meds. They’re the one you have to take on an empty stomach and wait 30 mins right?
@Bunniekins hope your Mum is ok.
@Taali hope you BIL doesn’t suffer too much. Looking after your sister is the best you can do.
Hi @ENKELI @StuF
