Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Hi

I have been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, social anxiety, and depression.

I saw a trauma psychologist for 10 months twice a week, but she stopped seeing me when my safety became an issue while processing the trauma.

My symptoms are so bad now I isolate myself in the car everyday to avoid triggers and flashbacks. Unable to go to strange places, talk to people. Just don't belong anywhere. Anxiety so bad I shake most of the time, chest pain and hard to breathe... This isn't living......

I'm too damaged to be helped, I have tried but no one will help me..... They just tell me its too complex and they are unable to help. I don't know what do do I have no support isolated, alone and scared....

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Chest pain breathing shaking is an everyday thing for me, anxiety that I cannot manage. But thanks for the concern Nik.

You forget I'm so pathetic I don't know how to cut and paste. Just new to technology. Um not even sure what that is. Just better off keeping to myself I don't want everyone to know how stupid I am.

Not up to much just too difficult but I'm here and still fighting.

Well, we are here & we will sit with you 🙂

I saw that @kristin mentioned the river. Are you a nature type of person?

Karen

You're here and still fighting. That's the way. NOT pathetic - courageous and determined. Courage is not the absence of fear or despair, but persistence in the face of them.

I just re-found this link to a website which had a blog post on managing flashbacks. Just to pre-warn you the website is run by a guy who is a survivor of CSA. I found the page very helpful and use some of the techniques in it, nor do I think there is anything inappropriate in it. I don't find the peripheral stuff triggering, and hopefully you won't either. I just thought it would be better to let you know so you are not taken unawares.

Kindest regards,

Kristin

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Dear Karen ,

Thinking about you.

What helps me is

reading books that talk about managing anxiety.

I also think of situations worse than mine and read how they got through it: like;

The Second world war in Poland and Germany.

How do my buddies in Sane forums manage ? I like very much reading how they do it because I understand them.

How does my oldest son manage ?

The biggest thing I do is think of a little like small thought I think over and over.

Mine is 'stay kind. Stay safe. Stay clean. '

I know that anxiety will always be there but I need to learn how to manage it. You wrote this and I agree.

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

errr Hey @NikNik @hiddenite

Just responding to the how does one manage, or utelize the forums to help through tough times, i tend to find myself reading back through old posts of mine and others, seeing what was written or what suggestions were given.... i also just have my big rambling blurts, where i write a long rambling post about what is going through my head.... if i am struggling i tend to try and comment on someone's post, something that might help, or a hope that might help.

I usually go a bit quiet when processing stuff, but if i am bouncing with mood towards hyped, i tend to "over post" and write on everything, i try not to be too full of myself, but sometimes i think it comes across that way, no one has ever said anything to me either way, and besides i know that if i do do something wrong the moderaters will let me know.

hiddenite, there is no such thing as being stupid! some people are good with computers, some people are not, i count myself lucky that i can even turn my computer on, i am definately not very tech savvy, my skill group, if i had to have one would be reading and writing.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, no matter how silly you think it is, believe it or not i have probably asked it twice. 🙂

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Dear @kato

I often re read your messages and poems.
Don't know if this helps but this is an idea, can you read say......one thread and just think about suggestions then write next with those suggestions in mind?
You may think that they are long and rambling ......whatever......
In my reading they are not.

When the word 'help,' comes up in your message, I am mindful of two things.
Help you
Help me

We'll, yes, a a matter of fact, your messages 'help me.'
1. Keeping it a dialogue not a monologue even when in difficult times.

2. Good writing. It flows.
3. The feelings a man goes through -
4. having to work
5. mI
6. Lies being said about him
7. Staying in the community with friends
Loving
8. Parents-
9. court

Suggestion: didn't oscar Wilde write one long long long poem when in jail.about 100 years ago ..... Now that's long and rambling.

Hi Karen,

How are you travelling my friend?

It has been a bit full-on for me today getting my head around some issues my teenage daughter is having. I am really hoping to get more sleep tonight. I need to try to go to bed by 10pm.

I don't think I mentioned yesterday that one of my long-standing self-soothing preferences is reading.

I love books, and also read a lot online. I do have to be a bit careful what I read though. I am finding I am increasingly sensittive to content and in the past I almost never left a book unfinished I now will stop if I find it really distressful. My son gave me a full set of The Game of Thrones series for Christmas (he knows I enjoy historical novels). I started reading the first book and only a few chapters in I find I will probably have to donate the set to the high school. I just can't read any more of it.

Finding books that are encouraging and uplifting, whether fiction or non-fiction are great to escape into.

Take care of you.

Kind regards,

Kristin

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

I don't know if this would be helpful for you or not but its an idea that helped me over the last 10 months being out of an abusive relationship.

When I first left my husband I couldn't stand men or being around them, if they came to close or even sounded annoyed at me (which 99% of the time wasnt directed at me) I would fall apart at the seams.

A very dear online friend of mine who is male wanted to help so he changed in to a cat (I like cats) on skype he was still male but his photo was a black panther when i felt strong enough to talk on voice with him he would purr and mew and i was able to talk.

very slowly on my stronger days we would try me seeing him on cam while we talked some days i could for a little while some i couldn't so he would go back to cat mode.

now he is more him then the cat but the cat is always there if i need it to be
